Not necessarily. Most songs debut relatively low as they aren't instantly well-known, and experience a sharp decline on Day 2 as they no longer have the promoted 'New Music Friday' effect. A lot of songs manage to recover through gaining popularity and additions to playlists. Exceptions to the rule of course come from massively hyped artists/releases such as Justin Bieber/Ed Sheeran/Drake who will of course enter straight at the top.

So it seems I may have to re-write this :lol:

I think nearly every artist would struggle to go to #1 without the right song. No one's a guaranteed #1 if they release a song like 'Yummy' :coffee: my thoughts are there's probably a lot of curiousity plays too so I'd imagine he'll tail off towards the end of the week.

Really not surprised at Bieber underperforming so hard (ok maybe #6 is a little shockingly low for day 1), no amount of playlist payola can truly save a song that no one likes.

 

Looks like an extremely boring week between the SCR resets and the almost complete lack of any notable new releases aside from this Bieber flop. I'll just be checking for 'SUGAR' updates throughout the week (yas for it beating its original peak already and nearing the top 100 *.*) ~ although Spotify is still yet to update for Saturday, boo.

 

'My Oh My' is so obviously the big hit of the era for Camila, I really don't know what they were thinking releasing all those other mediocre to awful songs before it. Yay for it finally giving DaBaby a decent hit in the UK too x

 

Great to see 'Blinding Lights' hitting a new peak, I hope it can go top 10 (will be annoying if it ends up saddled with a #11 peak). Yay for the continuing rapid progress for Roddy Ricch too, seems destined to hit #1 in the US but not sure if it will manage to go all the way here.
