This weekends forecast for Spa is rain on Saturday and Sunday. Perfect conditions then.

I've heard that before at every race this season  I'll believe it when it actually rains (and enough to count as a wet race).

Although having said that the top 2 drivers in the standings are also probably the best 2 in the wet so if anything it'll make it even less interesting at the front. Hopefully we'll see a few safety cars & different strategies play out though. Always the best chance for any of the middle drivers to snatch an unlikely podium (see Kyvat in Germany last season).

Ideally what we want are showers and rain on parts of the circuit when others are dry too
you ask for too much :D the weather is pretty miserable all over Europe right now so I'm confident it will rain

It's probably as close as we'll ever get to seeing F1 on an oval and it's a pity that it's so few laps but then the cars just aren't designed with a real oval in mind. We could well see quite a few retirements as the cars suffer with being flat out nearly all the time.

I predict Grosjean, several laps down, taking out a front runner at some point.

Interesting, probably the most laps for a Grand Prix for a long time in 87 laps.

2 things. It'll be a shame to see him rot away in a shit team going backwards but I suppose any seat is better than no seat.

Secondly it will interesting should Magnussen remain, I mean those 2 HATE each other so unsure how viable that'll be as teammates. Particularly with the explosive Steiner at the helm!

Mag and Hulk together? Let me grab my popcorn!!

The Renault seems to be flying in low downforce mode. The fact that we’re at a power track and the package is at the sharp end of the 9 teams is real encouraging after those early years of performance issues with the hybrid PUs. I say 9 because f*** Merc and their sport ruining ways. Take those pair out and this would be the most thrilling race since 2013. There is 5 teams you’d say have a shot of a podium and even the top step. Max vs Dani for pole yesterday would have been the most exciting pole battle of the year thus far.

Basically, ban Merc and #MakeF1ExcitingAgain

To be fair, Lewis was in a class of his own yesterday. That pole lap was special and showed he still has moments where the old pace is still there.

Merc's dominance is a bit depressing but you can't blame them for being the best. When Mercedes do Grand Prix racing they win. It's been that way for over 100 years and the only way they ever stop winning is when they quit racing.

Hulkenberg to Haas for next year, what do you reckon?

Please no. Let's get some more young blood in, not more re-treads

Yay for missing most of Ocon's move on Albion so we could watch hamilton leisurely wander round a Belgian forrest completely on his own.

Stoked for Renault getting 4th, 5th and the Fastest Lap. Big result. They've finally got a decent PU package and the car in Low Downforce mode looks hella fly. Barca showed that high downforce aint it for the car tho, so still a lot of Aero work to do for 2022. Major props to Viry tho for finally nailing the power unit.

Think TV companies need new guidelines for showing the Mercs on TV. Unless its on fire, backwards in a bush, beached in gravel or smeared along a wall only show us a merc if a non-merc is within 0.7 of it or if it is literally 50m away from the checkered flag and there is literally nothing else interesting happening. Otherwise, they should be neither seen nor heard.

for what I was reading yesterday the Haas 2021 line-up might be Hulkenberg-Perez if Vettel takes the Racing Point seat

yesterday's race was dull but watching it on Spanish TV was kinda fun, they spent the whole race rambling on their mad theories about Sanz being sabotaged by his own team :D

Antonio Giovanazzi at least made one part of the race exciting with the crash. Once again this rain was nowhere to be seen.

I don't think the Top 3 changed at all during the race..

By Spa's standards yes it was a poor race but really this is just the situation at the moment. No one can lay a glove on the Mercs (their one & only weak spot is high track temperatures which seem highly unlikely for the reminder of the season!) I've seen a lot of comments across various media saying it would be way more exciting if Mercedes weren't involved but actually it would be even less interesting as Verstappen would literally win every race unchallenged. As predictable as it is now there's still the faint chance of Bottas or Max pulling off an upset.

Even if the order remains the same for the rest of the year I'm still super excited for all the new & returning tracks, starting with Mugello in a fortnight :cheer:
