This has spent 69 weeks at the top of the US Dance/Electronic Songs chart (a record),only losing that position last week. It's also the highest ranking song on the Billboard end of decade chart (number 33) not to reach no.1 there.

From last year, this spent five weeks at no.2 in March and April. It had the same number of votes as 'Happier' but wins a second tie-break with one maximum score.

This is the first song to sell more than 2 million downloads in the US. Over here,it was the most played song on the radio from 2003-08. It's still Canadian Daniel Powter's only UK top 40 single.

Looks like Giant tailed off towards the end of the week (rather like it did in the midweeks while high in the chart) - all its votes came in the first 23 of 30 voters.

From 2013,this is still American DJ Chris Malinchak's only top 20 single. It samples 'If This World Were Mine' by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

Puretone is Australian Josh Abrahams. This was a hit in his home country in 1998 but it was four more years before it charted here. Vocals are by another Aussie,Amiel Daemion. It wins a tie-break over 'So Good To Me' by 16 votes to 11.

Blimey 9 points separate 39th from 32nd.

Back in 2002, Puretone entered at #68 due to leaked sales the week before it was officially released and made #2. If those sales had all been in the same week, they would have beaten (the late) Aaliyah to #1.

The first single from Blondie's fourth album 'Eat To The Beat'. The Police prevented Blondie from a hat trick of consecutive no.1 singles.

3 of my top 10 songs are gone so late :(

Shame Chris Malinchak is still one-hit-wonder in UK :( the same goes with Puretone.

Eric still releases fantastic dance music though.

Bye Blondie! I wish The Beach Boys had the same destiny but I'm pretty sure they will go through to the final round unfortunately. -_-

The only top 40 hit for Canadian Darrin O'Brien, written about being wrongly accused of attempted murder. After one week at no.2,the single dropped down to 3 for two weeks before returning to 2 for another fortnight.

If you've been watching TOTP on BBC4 in the last two weeks, you will have noticed that Mike Rutherford and his Mechanics were never available to perform this song in the studio. Instead,a couple minutes of the video were shown. If this had been the lead single from the album,it would surely have topped the chart. By the time it came out, they were probably touring the US where it reached no.1 and those who already owned the album would not have needed to buy the single. The lyrics were written by BA Robertson who had his own no.2 hit in 1979 with the excellent 'Bang Bang'. No one voted for that one. His son had been born shortly after his father had died.
