Posted January 28, 20205 yr @1222023231881662464 'Get Me' is cute, not a hit though but vastly better than 'Yummy' - mostly thanks to Kehlani.
January 28, 20205 yr It might be way to early to tell this yet but after the way Yummy went down I think this could be Justin’s underperforming by his standards like era. Can see a #1 debut in the UK (which Purpose actually didn’t manage) but overall it’s sales will be much lower than that era. Edited January 28, 20205 yr by Jordan Lee
January 28, 20205 yr Obviously it'll do well enough but I'm surprised they haven't pushed the album back a bit after the poor response to and the fairly under performance of Yummy
January 29, 20205 yr I can’t see him having the same level of success compared to his last album. The two songs I’ve heard are pretty dire!
February 14, 20205 yr Author This album is seriously terrible. 17 copy and paste songs with zero substance.
February 14, 20205 yr Uh oh really? I’m seeing these sorts of reviews everywhere. Would you say it’s a big step down from Purpose, Jack as I loved that album. I’m listening to it as a whole later on myself but there’s nothing what’s stood out so far. Still think it’ll debut at #1 though but sell a lot less than Purpose overall.
February 14, 20205 yr I find it all very listenable but it's samey for sure :( Without a doubt the weakest of his actual studio albums (though this is basically just another Journals lol)
February 14, 20205 yr I’ve just listened and I wouldn’t say it’s a bad album there’s some listenable and decent tracks on there but it is all very much the same mellow tone throughout . It doesn’t really switch up it’s almost like he’s singing about the same topic but just on a different song and it all just sounds very samey . Edited February 14, 20205 yr by troylovesmusic
February 14, 20205 yr He's had FIVE YEARS to follow-up Purpose! Did he just cobble this together in about 3 days when he decided it was time to throw out an album? I'd have really liked him to continue in the 'Friends' sort of direction.
February 14, 20205 yr This is completely undeserving of any success at all — a tired and insipid album that, whilst being on-trend, still sounds a few years too late Yeah a comparison to Journals is fairly accurate. Does nothing for me. At least Journals had this qnD1hwjR3WU Think she foreign, got passports bop
February 15, 20205 yr I've seen no hype around this and completely forgot it was being released this week :\ For an artist of his stature, I'm surprised I didn't hear anything until I purposely searched for this album thread after I literally just remembered he'd released.
February 15, 20205 yr Completely agree with the comments, it's very samey and generally a pretty terrible album. Such a shame as I was looking forward to more Sorry/Love Yourself/What Do You Mean type bops. The only saving grace with the album is 'Intentions' which I really like, but aside from that I won't be listening to the album again. I don't understand why he and his label thought this was good enough to put out as an album.
February 15, 20205 yr Just put the album on Shuffle and the first song to come on was 'Forever'. I mean it's not bad but the chorus is basically identical to that of 'Yummy'
February 17, 20205 yr Anyone seen any of Justin's interview with Zane Lowe? He seems like such a shell of a person, totally disengaged - no eye contact and uncomfortable body language. I'm not surprised this album is void of any substance if this interview is indicative of his head space.
