This was Galantis' best song since they hit the mainstream, so of course everyone hated it and it ended their chart career very abruptly :kink: It is a fab dance track though and I don't regret putting it this high up my countdown. Galantis do have another song to come though!

This was the second song I heard from Disclosure and the first from AlunaGeorge, this is an absolute tune despite not actually containing any white noise. (whenever I go to bed and say 'Alexa, play white noise' I always half-expect this to start pumping out :P

This is the absolute epitome of Eurovision, a comic group with a comic subject and of course very handy for consolidating my knowledge of French which I was learning at the time. Which made me even more shocked when not only did the song not win, it came... LAST  This is why people voted Brexit, guys!

The third Avicii song in quick succession, and the second album track, this is such a cheery track, describing how we've been through a lot and might not be the best at everything, however we're definitely not the worst. Definitely the best song from the Stories album for me!

Another song from my very brief obsession with Melissa Steel, another really good dance song with a great beat and great vocals, which paved the way nicely for me to immediately obsess over Blonde's next bit hit (still to come). This also isn't the highest for Melissa either!

73 Twin Twin - Moustache

74 Disclosure ft. AlunaGeorge - White Noise

71 Blonde - I Loved You (ft. Melissa Steel) this was quite good but I much preferred 'All Cried Out'

72 Avicii - Trouble this is nice enough but wasn't one of the album standouts for me

74 Disclosure ft. AlunaGeorge - White Noise another one here that'll be high up my EOD

75 Galantis - Rich Boy as you probably know already I'm not at all a fan of this :(

79 Avicii - Peace of Mind (ft. Vargas & Lagola) one of the best from 'Tim' definitely

Sunlight was a favourite of mine at the time (it reached #1 in my chart) but it's one I haven't gone back to at all over the years.

House Work is a massively underrated tune. That deserved the chart success that most of Jax's recent songs have got.

Can You Hear Me is a great tune (and certainly did have a video which I remember pretty well). Boom Blast was ok but nowhere near his best.

Lush Life is another I loved at the time but haven't listen to much since. It even made my EOY top 10 back in 2016.

Turn The Music Louder (Rumble) is pretty fun too. I can't imagine a song like it getting to #1 again any time soon though.

Starstrukk is a great bit of fun. Seemed to be everywhere at the start of the decade too.

I Loved You was easily Blonde's best for me.

I think I remember Lush Life make your EOY Top 10! I think part of the reason I've done my EOY is because I've not gone back to so many of these songs in a long time so i'ts a nice nostalgia trip, glad you're a fan of these ones anyway - thanks Lewis :D

White Noise and I Loved You both fantastic times from your 71-75 there, Pete.

I think I discovered this from someone who posted one Personal Chart here and then disappeared off the face of the Earth but it is by far the best discovery I've made on this forum, this is such a beautiful song by a beautiful singer who really needs to come back!

(Don't watch that music video, it's awful)

So we get to the highest Galantis song, the one that preceeds all their actual hits and is quite different in the sense that this has low-pitched robotic vocals as opposed to the high-pitched robotic vocals that appear in all their other songs. It always sticks in my head as the song that introduced me to Galantis though and is still my overall favourite!

The second of two songs in a row that I discovered from the same Ministry of Sound Album, this song was the one that really stuck out for me from all the songs on that album, aminly because of the absolutely sublime drop that we really need to hear more of nowadays! It really reminds me of New Year walking round Fountains Abbey just as the Christmas festivities were coming to a happy end.

Gryffin and Bipolar Sunshine have released a few songs together but this is the first one I heard and my first real introduction to tropical house. It's such a sublime track, taking the amazing vocals and putting them to such a good dance beat. I remember imagining myself singing this on a TV talent show sitting on a moon suspended from the ceiling :kink:

Another song from 2015 now and the highest from Blonde, I remember hearing this song months before it was released and knowing the beat of the chorus but not being able to place the pitch of any of the notes for the words 'all cried out', it was so annoying  Anyway this built on I Loved You brilliantly for an amazing new track!

Turn Back Time was one of my faves from Sub Focus and Blonde never topped All Cried Out for me either.
I didn't quite get Turn Back Time back then but I sure do now, what an awesome and unique top 10 hit that was! Daydreamer is indeed sublime
A lot of good dance tunes in these recent sections like those from Blonde, Disclosure + Sub Focus  Disclosure are definitely one of my favourite dance acts to have emerged in the 2010s (along with Clean Bandit) - their 'Settle' era was just incredible.

Glad you're a fan of both, they are both indeed tunes and I get what you mean about Turn Back Time being unique - you wouldn't get anything like that in the charts nowadays :( Thanks Jordan!

Head Over Heels sounds really lovely!!! I like it :D

Lush Life my favourite so far

Glad you've made a discovery Joseph - thanks for commenting!

Fairly ironic that I'm going with the original of this when the much more popular reworking features vocals from... Nico & Vinz :kink: Oh well, they've got plenty to be happy about on this countdown already. This is a song I always forget/underestimate in these lists just because it was just before my Personal Chart began and never charted officially, but each time I listen to it I'm reminded of how good it is!

Back to the start of the decade now, this reminds me of being in my room listening to this on a NOW CD on my CD player (where the fish tank is now :o) I absolutely adored this, apparently it samples 'Kids' by MGMT but I would definitely excuse anyone who didn't notice as it's so cut up it is pretty much a different melody.

The follow-up to Vandaag, this song really grabbed me, mainly because of the absolutely brilliant drop, and continued to stick with me throughout the year, despite not being one of the more punchier songs. My #2 from this year, it probably would have benefitted from being a few years older to add some nostalgia but still a very catchy indie track!

Turn Back Time was a great tune but feels largely forgotten about now. I certainly haven't gone back to it as much as I should have.

Opposite Of Adults    Legitimately in my favourite top 20 songs of all-time. I'm surprised you don't think the MGMT sample is obvious, it was the first thing I noticed when I first heard the song. (May be helped by the pun title of the song)

We No Speak Americano was a song I adored at the time but don't enjoy anywhere near as much anymore. Still fun for the occasional listen though.

'We No Speak Americano' was a big fave for me in the decade and my #1 from 2010.

'Teach Me' was rather good too though I prefer 'Vandaag'.

Didn't get into '6 Days' but really like 'Feel' from Mahmut Orhan.

The Very Best

Warm Heart of Africa (So Shifty / Architecture In Helsinki Remix) (2010)

-

Video

Commentary

Now I'm suddenly very confused. For the past 9 years I've assumed that the remix of this song was by So Shifty - both the official FIFA listing and YouTube seem to agree with this. However, when I come to play the song on Spotify, said 'remix' is in fact just an instrumental, whilst the version I love is apparently by 'Architecture In Helsinki'? It's very odd, particularly as the 'So Shifty Remix' I've linked also links to So Shifty's website, implying that it's definitely them that did the remix. So what's gone wrong? Who knows. What I do know is that the song is by London/Malawi collaboration project The Very Best and also features Ezra Koenig on vocals, and is a proper Afro-smash that just makes you feel so good!

Even now this feels like a very anomalous song to have made the UK Top 40, particularly in a week in which every other entry was by Justin Bieber. This is pretty standard Sheppard, but when you hear pretty standard Sheppard for the first time it really makes a mark, and that's what this song did. This and Edge of the Night were the real big smashes for these guys for me, both real tunes! Sadly this isn't grabbing me as much as it used to, but I guess that's more down to the fact that I've heard so much Sheppard now.

Commentary

Now here's a song which is just as fabulous now as it was when it was released! This finished criminally low in my 2016 EOY because of my awful points system but has leapfrogged most of the songs here, a faultless example of tropical house from the Austrian duo that really perked my ears up and of course a dancing pirate in the music video makes it even more worthwhile! It's also my highest BJSC entry in this countdown.
