Another new format - Disco: Deluxe Blue Marble Double Vinyl. It's for Spotify top listeners, but if you have the link you can buy it... here! £30.

Edit (3:45am) - I think I'll have to resist buying this version! With postage included it's £35, and I can't afford that at the moment.

The Amazon Black Friday version was £26.99. I pre-ordered that on the day it was briefly available (and won't be charged for it until later this month, thankfully!). I think I'll have to bide my time, and see what that Amazon version ends up being. I assume it'll end up being the same packaging as the Spotify version, but maybe not blue marble.

That vinyl does look good! Love the inner spread.

A review from Sunday Morning Herald: https://www.smh.com.au/culture/music/showy-...102-p56aq9.html

While it sometimes dips into the cheesy or obvious – the upbeat Monday Blues has a touch of inane “TGIF”-style office water cooler talk – for the most part Disco is a sanguine collection that focuses on feeling good. Of course, some songs speak clearly to the experience of the pandemic – the thoughtful yet groovy Say Something reflects the loneliness and distance of 2020 (“we’re a million miles apart in a thousand ways”, “can we all be as one again?”) – but the record manages to avoid being bogged down in the specifics of the present.

Instead, many of its sentiments revolve around the universal, from the sugar rush of new love (Magic) to the propulsive, addictive pull of live music and the dance floor (Where Does The DJ Go?and album highlight Dance Floor Darling, which unexpectedly picks up the pace two-thirds of the way in, transforming from a mid-tempo disco number to a glittering, manic frenzy). In typical Minogue fashion, there are sensual moments, too, notably the slinky Miss A Thing.

I don't mind all the different versions.

Fans should buy the ones they really want, no one forces you but I understand collectors want everything and also postage and packaging can cost on multiple purchases.

I just have the signed CD so far and a download. And the two vinyl singles. I will be streaming mostly week1 and will buy deluxe during the week when it gets discounted haha

But we are talking of a pop album of escapism. This is a Kylie Disco thread. I am worried about Covid-19 too and am not complaining that shops are shut, I am just starting it will hit sales.

Gosh. Next we will be discussing political views in here.

We are just discussing the album and its sales, promo, strategies. I am not worried where Kylie charts as in its a matter of life or death. It's just chit chat to pass time and hear people's takes.

People need other things to discuss and this is for Disco

The music is absolutely a great escapism, something we all need, and I am sure Disco (and the live stream on Saturday) will provide that. That was also not the point I wanted to make, I was just focussing about the comments about the stores closing and how awful that would be. Which it is, but mostly for the people working there, and not for an album of a multi millionaire. It reminded me a bit of the GaGa fans who were upset about her posting about BLM instead of Chromatica. There are a lot of big things happening in the world we need to keep in mind. And yes, that includes politics. So I also would not see why that would be a problem to discuss tbh.

Exactly the stores are shut which is awful because many music fans still want to go to those stores especially on release day. Many Kylie fans take the day off work and go and proudly buy her records etc and there was in the past a buzz from staff who work in these stores and other independent retailers. its sad for everyone

Kylie doing an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music this morning/tomorrow. 10am PT. too early to work out time differences haha

I wonder how much money a die-hard fan has to spend if he wants all versions of Disco...

well if they wait for discounts not too much lol.

Xmas sales and bundle sales, downloads will probably be a price war this week.

the only real need to buy urgently is signed stuff and limited editions

its like with anything you buy what you can afford. to some fans spending £200 on Kylie is a couple of hours work, for others its a couple of months spare money.

No - I don’t open anything, I have been collecting for years and started properly collecting just before ‘Impossible Princess’ - I have an Instagram account with all my Kylie goodies (There are lots of other that have the same too).

Does this really happen? Because of album release?

I've taken the day off to spend all day listening to it!

(But then I do have annual leave to use up before the end of the year, so why not?)
