'Baby I' was the only one of her early singles that I particularly cared for when listening through them. That and 'MONOPOLY' are too low. x

I am partially memeing it but do people seriously hold 'Focus' in high enough regard for it to have this high of an average? I was under the impression even her fans recognised it was awful? xx

Focus is fun! It deserves top 20. I don't get how those who dislike it, seem to dislike it so strongly :lol:

But each to their own etc.. 🙃

It's a bop!

Focus is the only song that has spent 10+ weeks at #1 in my chart so....

Baby I is ok but I’m not disappointed to see it out.

Glad Baby I is out, one of the only Ariana songs I dislike! Was fairly sure when this started that Focus would last a while but now that these are gone I expect Focus will drop out soon.

28 5.64 Heatstroke (Calvin Harris feat. Young Thug, Pharrell Williams & Ariana Grande)

Highest: SamJudd (9.5) / Lowest: Cameron, JosephStyles (1)

I don't know why I forgot this didn't get a music video.

Next out is this four-way star-studded collaboration, which if one saw the names, would expect to be in for one of the signature songs of the last decade. That it is not, but it's a cute little Summer jam. It has an interesting production, presumably due to Pharrell's involvement. There are some very questionable vocals on the track, but as always Ari saves the day.

Here on Buzzjack, it has been met with a mixed reaction. No 10s, yet no 0s, averaging out just about 5 points per voter. The track was met with mixed reviews on release also, there was also a little scandal where the original demo writers were snubbed, but managed to get their names on the track and 15% of the royalties. It managed many middle peaks in a hand full of countries, going on to be certified Silver in the UK and Platinum in Australia.

I can't believe 'Heatstroke' finished as high as 28th out of 36 songs as it seems to be vocally bashed on here a lot :lol: I was expecting bottom 3. I guess it does have its big fans after all. I don't think it's bad, but I expected better from the names involved, especially when it was coming right after 'Slide' - one of my favourite Calvin songs.

Yeh I remember being overly hyped and then being a little let down, but forced myself to like it.

Heatstroke was decent but as others have said it had the potential to be so much better with the names involved!

I feel the same way about 'Focus' as half of people seem to feel about 'the light is coming' I guess. But that one actually is a bop. xx (The chorus of 'Focus' is just so horribly jarring, the rest of the song I guess is fine but it can't make up for that x)

I'm glad 'Heatstroke' didn't finish too low, it's an underrated tune.

27 6.22 Adore (with Cashmere Cat)

Highest: blacksquare + Jade (9), Jordan Lee (8.5) / Lowest: Wall (0), Cameron (3)

Dropping out next in 27th place is 'Adore'! It is the first song to be revealed so far with a 6+ average, so not too bad a result. 'Adore' saw Ariana teaming up with producer Cashmere Cat for a second time, after he contributed to album track 'Be My Baby' on her sophomore record 'My Everything'. This time Ariana was repaying the favour as a featured artist for his '9' album. The pair also had some help from Lido and Benny Blanco on production duties. Cashmere Cat debuted 'Adore' on the first night of Ariana's 'The Honeymoon Tour' and it was later released on March 3rd 2015. The team-up cracked the Billboard Hot 100 at #93, giving Cashmere Cat his first appearance there. 'Adore' meshes the two worlds of electronic and R&B music together. Cashmere Cat's production progresses from light and silky during the verses to loud and trappy in the chorus. Ariana controls her vocals in a similar fashion. They evolve from smooth in the verses to bold and passionate during the chorus. 'Adore' is definitely not Ari's finest moment in terms of diction (I definitely had to look up the lyrics before) but her power shines through nevertheless as she tackles some impressive runs. Her vocals feel believable as she confidently delivers love-struck lines such as "you're what I adore". Cashmere Cat's effortlessly cool and idiosyncratic production style matches up with her equally effortless vocal talent. Ariana would later explore trap production further in her own music. 'Adore' is the first of two Cashmere Cat collaborations to drop out - BuzzJack has decided that 'Quit' is the stronger one.

~~~
I’m a fan of ‘Adore’ as you can probably tell from the commentary and score of 9! However, ‘Quit’ edges it for me so I’m glad that is still to come. The two of them fit really well together musically.
I'm not to disappointed at Heatstroke & Adore dropping out here. Aside from Monopoly, these results are going somewhat right.
Quit is certainly the better Cashmere Cat collab.
26 6.23 Right There (feat. Big Sean)
Highest: coi, Cqmerqn (9) / Lowest: dan.G (3)
Next up is another Yours Truly single, and one that is much too low IMO! Right There was a collaboration between Ariana and her now-ex Big Sean and was initially thrown out as a promotional single just weeks after Baby I's release, and clearly it proved popular as it was sent to US radio that September. Unfortunately, it didn't really set the charts alight - only making it to #112 in the UK and #84 in the US :( but it's clearly shown some longevity with Ariana and the fanbase because she included it on the Sweetener World Tour setlist! That was such a brilliant surprise for me when I attended, having not looked at the setlist.
Way too low for Right There! :( My favourite single from her first album.
I do enjoy 'Right There' although it's actually my least favourite single from 'Yours Truly', so feels about right. I agree that it was a welcome throwback on tour, it's so cool that Ariana still performs songs from all of her eras *.*
25 6.54 Good As Hell (Remix) (Lizzo feat. Ariana Grande)
Highest: ...ready for it, Tawdry Hepburn, George.keh, LMLou, Josh! (9) / Lowest: coi, Cqmerqn (2)
Kicking off our top 25 is one of Ariana's jumped on features. It is 'Good As Hell' by Lizzo. I think that the UK played this version quite a bit on radio but I don't think it took off as much in the US with Lizzo's solo version doing pretty great on its own. I do feel this is a little bit of an unnecessary feature, but you guys seem to like it with a good few 9's being given to it.
I recall the reaction to 'Good As Hell (Remix)' being quite lukewarm on here at the time so that's done a bit better than I was expecting. Then again, the criticisms seemed to target the Ari feature being a bit pointless, so it's probably done okay on the merit of Lizzo's original parts. I'm personally not a huge fan, I would've been way more into a 'Truth Hurts' remix (especially as trap music is Ari's thing too) but yeah 'Good As Hell' was the song that needed the boost, so understandable.
