I am so happily and pleasantly surprised.. I loved NRO & Daisies, but had really low hopes for the whole album/era... and..

The album is better than the previous 2 for me. Feels more mature and yet still captures that signature Katy Perry pop sound.

Never Really Over

Resilient

Only Love

daisies

Teary Eyed

These are my favourites.. but I appreciate the other songs too! I now love HIH, and Ive never listened to it after the single release day

I've come back to this once again, on my 4th full listen and I'm not skipping! The only time I feel like it is when the songs I've already heard come on. I wish 'High On Your Supply' was on streaming, really like that one too. For me I'm actually enjoying this more initially than I was 'Prism', but obviously not quite near the heights of 'Teenage Dream'.

Cry About It Later/Teary Eyes absolutely need to be singles!

With her just having a baby in the last few days has all the promo she’s done deliberately been done before hand and is there nothing else to come in terms of singles?

I wonder if there’s a pre recorded video / single choice lined up for the coming weeks.

Been listening to this non-stop, and it really is such a return to form. Not quite at the heights of either Teenage Dream or Prism, but this is the typical Katy Perry I love, and she's still managed to mature a lot and just make music that's meaningful to her and do what she wants.

Shame to see Resilient getting a bit of a hard time though, because I love the lyrics and it's pleasant to listen to.

Not even sorry about Harleys being last; it's by far the worst thing there. Should have been replaced with Never Worn White.

I think my rank goes like this..

1. Never Really Over

2. Teary Eyes

3. Cry About It Later

4. Not the End of the World

5. Resilient

6. Only Love

7. Daisies

8. Tucked

9. What Makes A Woman

10. Champagne Problems

11. Harleys In Hawaii

12. Smile

Literally the two worst songs on the album were chosen as singles. You can't write it!

#3 on Apple Music :o

Only the bottom two I’m not huge on and Never Worn White is cute, this album has been so helpful today and I’m not even joking

I like everything. HIH however does feel out of place on the album. Small Talk genuinely fits better!

Not a single dud rn!

I enjoy Harley’s a lot but agree it’s not suited to the album, I much prefer it to Small Talk but that sounds more in-line.

Despite choice ass lyrics I highkey want High On Your Supply on the international album as well *.*

A few are quite difficult to separate right now but that top 6 is FANTASTIC in particular!

Just listened! Liked it, not complete love yet but it's a cute album. It starts fantastically with the huge pop moments, then dips a fair bit in the middle, but returns to form towards the end with the majestic Only Love being a real highlight for me. It doesn't reinvent the wheel or really progress much from what she has done in the past, but in her own unique lane, this fits in nicely. She clearly has things to say and put right with this so I can imagine it was a very cathartic experience for her especially coinciding with Daisy's arrival <3

Who knows how it will perform commercially or critically, and I think for her at this stage, it doesn't matter? She beat herself up in the aftermath of the reception towards Witness but retrospectively seems to have come out stronger as a result of that, so I hope this is a wholly more positive experience for her and can enjoy life as a mother without the pressures of being a popstar.

No matter what the charts show, I think this era has restored a lot of goodwill amongst the GP towards Katy even if she’s not the hitmaker of the 10’s. Such a contrast from the backlash she received during Witness for...idek now lmao which was horrible to watch.

Talking about horrendous single choices :cheeseblock:

If she releases end of the world , cry about it later instead of daisys and smile :cheeseblock:

Really liked this! Champagne Problems is the only dud on there for me.

With this album, I think it's clear that Katy isn't going for success with this (although it would obviously be a bonus).

She's just showing that she is happier and it's showing in her music and like someone else said, making this album seemed very therapeutic for her. In similar ways that Joanne, Blackout, thank u next etc.. were.

Whilst Katy isn’t going for huge success with this album I do think that if this was the album to follow PRISM it would’ve done better than what Witness did three years ago *if* the right singles were picked.

She’s been sitting on proper bangers here though and releasing tracks what are less GP friendly (but perhaps she chose what’s most representative of her rn who knows) she definitely seems happier though and I guess that’s the main thing whatever happens she’s already made it and she doesn’t have much left to prove at this point she’s just releasing music but in a more healthy way this time.

Honestly I really get Xtina vibes from Katy’s mainstream career (UK wise)

I was curious to see what the reviews were for the album and they're mainly mixed positive which I then thought I'd compare to 'Teenage Dream' since it's so highly regarded and 'Teenage Dream' only got mixed reviews (about the same as Witness), a lot more negative than 'Smile'. Interesting.
I'm positively surprised! There are some clear standouts (such as NRO, Teary Eyes and Tucked to some extent) but none of the tracks are bad which is always nice. Hope it does decently on charts. The single choices are a bit weird I must say, even though I like Daisies a lot myself.

The reviews ive seen have been terrible

NME gave it a 2 out of 5

And Pitchfork also gave it a bad review
