I FINALLY got round to watching the video!! OMGF it is an event!! They both look gorgeous but it's all about the hi-NRG explosion of joy and euphoria for me!! :wub: I really hope this can be another number one for Gaga and Ari! :heart: This year needs a massive female chart topper especially 10 years after Telephone! It just feels RIGHT!

Amazing to think how differently their careers have gone. Katy was on top of her game in 2013, with Roar absolutely thrashing Applause in the charts. 7 years later, Katy’s lead single is charting at #37 and a week later Gaga is coming for a possible #1!

I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype as so many high profile collage fall flat, but this has completely lived up to it for me. Definitely my favourite big collab in a loooong time!

A Star Is Born really helped Gaga out in terms of her being more mainstream popular with the GP. It showed off her talents even more and proved that she’s a force. ARTPOP really damaged her for a time but everything since has kind of recovered that era as it showed off that behind it all she can still really SING and now this era is reminding people of why they fell in love with her in the first place it’s almost like the Paparazzi video come full circle and actually happened tbh!

 

With Katy, I think she had the kids market totally sold with a lead single Roar so I can see how it was a monster hit compared to something like Applause. But Katy is kinda one dimensional in a way compared to Gaga so it’s easier to see how Gaga recovered better after a less successful era than what Katy would be able too.

Yeah, Katy is not really evolving enough musically to stay super relevant, whether it's her own decision or poor management.

 

But there's no need to put these two against each other as they are good friends. They just happened to start their careers around the same time.

I think Gaga has proven though that a flop era or a few misfires does not a career end. So Katy, if she wants it enough and is dedicated enough, can bounce back and be on top again. Gaga's drive is second-to-none; she has said since day one, music is everything and she will do it until she dies unashamedly. Not listening to others, but following her own artistic vision. Every album and song and music video is HERS and has her mark stamped all over it. That's how you last for the long run. See~ Madonna.

It's crazy, around the time of 'Perfect Illusion' I literally did think she was over (in terms of being a commercially viable act). I'm very pleased to see how she's bounced so remarkably since!

This is just so joyous, camp, and celebratory — a real pop moment. We all need uplifting and it feels so right for now.

 

I love watching Gaga, as goofy as she can be, enjoying being a popstar and just going for it 100%. Imagine being Ariana, a little monster who was covering Gaga songs in her bedroom as a teen, getting to experience this — and it being a complete slam-dunk.

I was expecting a pure pop record like No Tears Left To Cry, instead she went full 90s house music direction, which suits her, although I'm not sure that is the direction for a huge US smash. However if she manages to influence more american artists to go that route, then it'll be a welcome change to what is dominating the charts there right now
