Just listening to the album for the 1st time.

Doesn't break any new ground for me personally.

Reminds me of a mix of Orbital, Leftfield & Future sound of london.

Nice enough as I like all those artists, retro beats!

'Sundial', 'Saku' and 'Atlas' are still the ones but a really solid album! 'Hawk' stood out to me the most of the new tracks~

Pitchfork can do one

Agree with you that it’s not groundbreaking stuff and it’s very 90s sounding. Which basically sums up why I enjoy it so much!

Apricots has really grown on me since I’ve heard it in the context of the album.

I am not accepting this result, BICEP THE TRUE #1! As Meekal would say, they were a double a side with Harry Styles! Chart fix!!!
I bet BMTH added some late minute fake cassette sales from their website which nobody can doublechecck #badloser

BMTH’s success comes following an extremely close race against Northern Irish electronic act Bicep, whose second album Isles enters at Number 2 after leading at the midweek point by just 103 chart sales.

Edit: Nevermind, that was the midweeks, Joseph says they lost out by 1.7k.

I very much doubt that, they'd been pushing a lot on the final day

They’ve sold 23,500 by the end of week 1. That’s higher than I would have expected so it’s a great result, just a shame the hope of #1 was unexpectedly out there all week.
Also... I’ll probably sound like a broken record here but... this sounds unquestionably better on vinyl, it’s an amazing pressing

Aww. I'm happy with Bring Me The Horizon getting the #1 as well (I presume they had some late reporting sales again like You Me At Six last week, I'm not going to go conspiracy theorist like Bjork but it's quite annoying that these things are so unpredictable, makes the midweeks kind of useless sometimes!) but this getting #1 would have been more of a moment (their first #1 and a pretty rare #1 for an electronic album). Ah well, #2 is still a great result for them and it's a big improvement on the first week sales of their debut, maybe they'll get the #1 next time!

As for 'Apricots', happy that it at least wasn't the accursed #41, I expected it to fall a lot further short of the top 40 after seeing its second day stream slump - again #42 is still a very impressive peak for the kind of song it is even if it's a little disappointing that it just missed the top 40.

Not to ruin your fun but it's 13,200.

Sorry I meant 13,500 - they had 300 sales from last week also somehow.

The remaining 10,000 gap I can only put down to overexcitement!

Yes! I think it was actually 3,000 fake cassette sales but unfortunately their team didn't report the other 2,700 this week :( :( :(
Just seen that 'Atlas' managed to hang onto the top 100 as well for a much-belated debut at #91! Their third track dropped out since the Monday mids though.
