she was relatively unknown at the time... the second album usually always open with the biggest sales especially if the debut was successful... the problem is the release coinciding with the coronavirus epidemic outburst...

We don't tend to see huge increases nowadays. Going from 16k to opening with 40k+ would be a 150% increase which is massive.

Amazon has May delivery times!

So it could be a lot of online stores haven’t added in sales because they haven’t been dispatched?

what is surprising that their last album only did 16K and that was coming after the huge success of Youngblood the single, while this time they've just had small one-week hits in the charts but not a huge hit like Youngblood... but guess multi-formatting explains it

Youngblood the single was still climbing when the album came out, it wasn't quite the big hit it went on to be, and it was their first proper hit in years. I think what's come afterwards has proven the success of that was pretty much a fluke too.

That said, Easier was a solid enough hit and despite a lower peak, I'd say it was bigger than She's Kinda Hot, which puts CALM in a better spot than Sounds Good Feels Good was in I think.

Online stores are likely representing most of the sales that actually ARE there.....

Amazing for 5SOS :cheer: Although they have been lucky also - Amazon shipped all the pre-orders of the signed album so they have counted for this week, Dua didn’t have any Amazon exclusives and now won’t ship for 2 months.

The signed bundle sold out of the 5SOS website so they have added another - CD and 4 cassettes with a signed poster which will ship at a later date plus a personalized voicenote from a member of the band for £28.

but those 9k are Saturday or Sunday mids?
I'm not surprised to see 5SOS ahead tbh, Dua Lipa doesn't strike me as an act with a die hard fanbase outside of the likes of this sort of forum. She will undoubtedly outsell 5SOS in the long run. Before seeing these initial sales flashes I was thinking she'd be on for Weeknd level sales at the absolute most.
Something like 25-30k would be great for Dua given the circumstances (close to zero physical and streaming down due to the pandemic).

I doubt physicals are close to zero? She’s had multiple bundles on her website (several have sold out) and the standard and HMV exclusive vinyl have both sold out on HMV too.

Refreshing to see you not denouncing something as "shockingly underperforming"!

Supermarkets aren't stocking CDs, HMVs are closed and while things are being sent out there's a major lag and lots of delays so sales are obviously going to be down. Tv promo is also cancelled.

This is going to be the lowest week for sales, its looking very bleak.
