28 March marked 15 years since 'Giving You Up' was released as the second single from Ultimate Kylie. Produced by Girls Aloud hitmakers Xenomania, the song follows an unusual structure and harks back to 80s synth. It became Kylie's 29th Top 10 hit in the UK and 22nd in Australia, although the lack of promotion and omission from subsequent compilations has resulted in 'Giving You Up' becoming one of Kylie's most forgotten singles. Share your thoughts below as we give it a moment in the spotlight.

THIS SONG

So many memories associated with this! I remember the video being all over the music channels at the time, and every time I saw it I just fell in love. I'm glad it got a moment in the spotlight too on the Showgirl tour - wonderfully slotted in at the beginning of the setlist. Honestly such a fave.

One of my faves  This song always seems to get overlooked.

Also from a collection point of view it’s amazing too promo CDs and vinyl plus special international editions and differences such as the German limited edition CD.

Great to see the love for this! It's not one of my very favourites but I really enjoy it whenever I hear it and I often forget how much. Would have been nice to have had a Top of the Pops performance or something but I understand all her energies were on the tour at this point.

It is a shame to see this as one of her lowest sellers. Out of her Top 40 hits, only 'Some Kind of Bliss', 'The One' and 'Where is the Feeling' have sold less and they were all notable flops. It completed 2005 as the 137rd best seller with 43k and had only added 10k to its total by August 2019.

I really like Giving You Up and i really enjoyed it live on the showgirl tour as Kylie nailed the performance of it, it really gets so overlooked by many.

All her best songs are her lowest sellers :drama:

I think GYU would have been a solid performer over the years on streaming and downloads had it been included on an album rather than a standalone track.

A big fave of mine, and so painfully underrated.

I think it's one of the singles I can't see her ever acknowledging again in any way shape or form.

We need another Anti Tour!

Ya with it not on the original sbit aswell did t help. It's a shame its sold so poorly as it's a good song. It's strange how the chart books to the casual reader would assume that songs like giving you up are far bigger hits than songs like dancing for example, although a way lower peak has 150k more sales.
