Switching position with '...Baby One More Time' is the lead single from 'Blackout' album, Gimme More. The song starts with legendary line 'It's Britney Bitch', and then heavy beat starts.. The rest is really history now. Commercial wise Gimme More was WW hit, hiting top 3 in the most of the charts. Britney on VMA 2007 has performed 'Gimme More' and the performance was not received well. She seemed a bit lost during the performance but was kinda on point during the some of choregraphy parts. Nobody knows what exactly happened that night, we can hope that she'll one day speak about it. The video is fully stripper video, where she strips and dance on pole with some of the dancers. Few years ago original video has leaked with some different parts. Only they know what happened with this video. Fun fact recently Gimme More became 11th Britney's song to top over 100,000,000 streams on Spotify!

My Britney top 3 is 'Toxic', 'Everytime' and 'Gimme More' in that order... so this is going swimmingly so far :cheeseblock:

 

The opening of 'Gimme More' alone is iconic.

Another iconic song. Really should have been a number 1 hit imo. Although the video is a bit shit. All of the top 3 are deserving of the win.

Gimme More should've won, her very best for me :'( Everything about it is just the ultimate song package. INCLUDING the VMAs performance.

That shocked me as well when I looked it up recently, I thought it went top two for some reason? :lol: It's one of her most remembered songs I always thought.

'Gimme More' is a masterpiece. THAT'S how you do a comeback single after a few years away. The opening line is a staple of todays modern popular culture. It's referenced everywhere. The recent-ish revival of the "WHO IS IT????... *the opening of 'Gimme More' plays*" during her tour. One of the highlighs of when I saw her back in 2017! The crowd were on fire :wub:

 

I'm hoping one day it'll be able to snatch the win from 'Toxic'/'Baby..' at some point, but for now, I'm just thankful it's loved and appreciated as much as it is now! :D

'Gimme More' is her best!

'Gimme More' is the perfect introduction to her best era. It's such a bold move to take and it delivered impeccably. For better or worse, I think it will always be looked back as one of the most important pop moments of the 00s with all the background drama that was happening. I absolutely love the song and of all her material, it seems to be aging better than most!

 

Everytime to win now, but it won't ~

my score for BOMT was definitely strategic to make sure it doesn't challenge Everytime or Toxic. :angry: It's actually in my Top 10 Britney songs

We have a new winner! :o 2016 rate #1 'Toxic' has to make do with being a runner up on this occasion.

 

What a tremendous moment in 00s pop this is. This surefire hit was released as the second single from its parent album 'In the Zone', in January 2004. Let us bow down to the geniuses responsible for this song: Britney Spears, Bloodshy & Avant, Henrik Jonback and Cathy Dennis. What did they do? They did that. That is what they did when they came up with Toxic!

 

Kylie Minogue apparently rejected this song (sis!), but Kylie's loss was certainly Britney's gain. It received critical acclaim, with many reviews singling it out as the highlight track from 'In the Zone'. The single was a worldwide commercial success. It reached #1 in the UK, selling a highly impressive 102,576 in its first week and ending 2004 as the 9th best seller of the year. It certified Platinum in 2017, with total sales fast approaching 900,000. It also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Portugal, Norway, Greece and Czech Republic, and achieved Top 10 peaks in every other country it charted in. In the US it reached #9, and in doing so it ended a 4 years drought of Top 10s (her last Top 10 hit was with 'Oops!... I Did It Again' which also reached #9).

 

Of course Britney served up an iconic music video for this one. Flight attendant Britney became another signature look, as did the sheer bodysuit covered in diamonds. The moment she serves up choreography while avoiding the Mission Impossible style laser trap! Not a single second of this video is wasted, it's captivating and so entertaining. It reportedly cost $1 million to make, which as far as I'm concerned was money well spent. :cool:

 

Notably 'Toxic' won Britney a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.

 

16 years later (ugh, where does the time go :( ) and the impact of this single is still felt. It's Britney's second most viewed music video on YouTube with 445 million views, while on Spotify it leads the way as her most streamed song, with an incredible 410 million streams.

 

But it's not your #1 Britney single! Congratulations to...

I actually can't believe it. I'm SO happy that, for the FIRST TIME, Everytime has managed to WIN a Britney Spears singles rate, and really close to a perfect 10 average! Nobody scored it under an 8!

 

It's been my favourite Britney song pretty much since I first heard the album in 2004 (I got the album around the time of 'Toxic''s release). I'm a sucker for a ballad anyway, but this really hit me (it was released as a single at a really hard point in my teenage years). From the piano-led instrumental, to Britney's haunting vocals to the breathtakingly stunning production. Everything just hit. It was to be her last UK #1 for more than 7 years! Gorgeous. The video was a controversial moment as it saw Britney die in a bath tub with blood pouring from her head and basically being reincarnated, before she wakes up in the bath tub, thankful for her life again. GORGEOUS and the scenes of her dressed all in white in the hallways.. mesmerizing! Again another iconic videography moment for her vast catalogue!

 

I'm so pleased to see 'Everytime' emerge victorious in one of these for once. It's just a testament as to how strong her material is!
