A problem with a PVC sleeve is that they’re soooo bad for the vinyl, eventually… it can lead to a chemical process called outgassing, which damages the vinyl. So it’s wise to store the record in a different sleeve. I didn’t know about this until within the last 5 years… and indeed my Geri - Ride It picture disc was ruined by its sleeve. :( perhaps some of my other picture discs too but a bit harder to tell when they’re full colour images - Geri’s being a mostly white background made it really easy to see when the damage happened… it yellowed :/

So tbh in that sense I should probably buy a copy of Hot sooner rather than later so I can free the poor vinyl from its nasty current sleeve drama

KNOWLEGE IS POWER!! DO IT BUY IT NOW @-Jay- !!!

(and then order an original cover sleeve from this instagram page and store it properly and beautifully as it should, and use the PVC sleeve to cover the original cover sleeve 😅 double protection is always a good thing)

Happy anniversary to one of the best solo Spice songs heart

Feels So Good should have been the first single from the album, it's so f***ing good.

If she has waited and released it after the Forever campaign was over with this as the first release, then I cannot see how she wouldn’t have gotten a top 10 album!? If Victoria could do it off the back of NSAIG, sure Mel could with a song 100 times better?

Definitely a huge mistake to release the album in October and after Tell Me. Feels So Good was the one! The fact that Feels So Good came out 5 months after Tell Me but still managed to outsell it…!

As well as being released off the back of a stronger single, Mel could have picked up some attention with articles mentioning Tell Me’s subject matter and driving some album curiosity buys. That controversy was wasted on scoring a hit single, but made very few interested in actually buying the album lol.

It was Mel's own decision - she wanted to release in October after Tell Me against Virgin's wishes. I will never understand it, it was so clearly a stupid ass decision.

Even if she wanted to release Tell Me first, why not wait for the album to be released in 2001 with Feels So Good as the album launching single?...

Honestly, the two Mels really f***ed up the Forever release with their own solo demands/priorities at the time. No wonder Virgin was so keen on getting rid of them - they broke their (at the time) biggest and most profitable act's big comeback...

I just got the unnoficial original design vinyl sleeve from this account and my oh my it looks amazing and just how it should have been!!

What a wasted opportunity from the label to invest in the pictures just like they did with the AGLM and NS release. the original cover is iconic and would have made even more impact imo...

Bought from my local record store, which had one other copy left. Like the leopard print vinyl with the red track list which I think works very well just a shame about the rest of it or lack of it should I say. Gave it a spin all way through as not done this in years and have to say it's a half decent album maybe a couple of fillers but that was common of pop albums of the time. I can't understand why it didn't do better as it was home to a number 1 and top5 before the album was released. If feel so good was realsed in tell me place I think it could of done slightly better but I don't think this was the main problem if I'm honest. The last spice related album released was ns mel c over a year ago so you can't say that we were overrun with output from the girls. I think part of the problem may of been the cover as not appealing to the young market or parents buying the record also song like pack your s###t wouldn't of helped.

You might be right about the cover but she was clearly aiming a more teen adult-adult audience with this album. Sadly, I think she needed some distance from the Spice Girls image first before releasing something like this and be successful.

But you are not quite right when it comes to 'not being overrun with output from the girls'. Since Northern Star's release, the girls had released. Sorry for the long post but lets get things right:

Geri - Lift Me Up, Bag It Up

Melanie C - Never Be The Same Again and I Turn To You to huge success and then released If That Were Me also in the middle of the Forever campaign as well.

Victoria - Out of Your Mind (and specially in the UK, she was a huge star, not necessarily well liked by the press and the public).

Mel C, Victoria and Mel B were all campaiging for their singles roughly around the same time. Mel C released I Turn To You on August 21st, then the next week, Victoria released Out of Your Mind, both had huge promotional campaigns. Then Mel B released Tell Me on September 25th, followed by Hot on 9th October, followed by Holler/Let Love Lead The Way on 23rd October, followed by Forever on the 6th November.

Bear in mind, between August - November 2000 all of these singles and their accompanying videos and albums had huge promotional campaigns, all overlapping each other. Plus, at this point, Emma and Mel B had done loads of TV work as well. Emma was still doing TV work during Forever and Holler's promo campaign as well, and Mel C was still touring her own solo tour (she did her first and last arena headline date on 5th November).

They were still everywhere, just in their solo capacity. The saturation of Spice-related outputs plus how obsessed (and vile) the press was, was absolutely an issue by the time the Forever campaign started.

Mel B releasing Hot in the middle of this, by her own demand, was her downfall, as was the Forever campaign.

I was referring to nobody releasing an album rather than singles.

Still, the market and the press were saturated with Spice. That was the point.

Was in Banquet Records earlier - they had plenty of stock so will be part of their online drop tonight.

It didn't, although I wasn't expecting that it could. Not when A Girl Like Me or Reason didn't make it into the Monday midweeks over the last couple of years.

I was contemplating getting one too, they are so expensive though, don't know if I can justify it! Especially when I didn't actually purchase the vinyl 🤣

100% right, it was fantastic if you were into all the girls (like I was) but I can imagine the general public and those who were not as obsessive fans got a bit sick of it all.

Ordered it on banquet store. I know it’s a bit of a shitty pressing but I just love this album and Mel B and I can’t see any other versions coming, so f*** it !

Pack that shit vinyl to me 🤣

Well guess what darlings, after all that talk, I ordered a Hot vinyl after all.

I'm really not proud of myself, but FOMO won out in the end x

I'll totally resent this when it's £15 by June xx
