April 14, 20206 yr Top 100s are on the OCC website - what boring charts atm :drama: it is a bit dire isn't it think we need 220 KID to sneak into the top 40 to resolve matters :magic:
April 14, 20206 yr we can thank Corona for all the slow charts we're going to be having this year. it'll be like 2016 all over again, maybe we'll even have a 15 week long #1 too seeing as Blinding Lights clearly isn't going anywhere.
April 14, 20206 yr maybe we'll even have a 15 week long #1 too seeing as Blinding Lights clearly isn't going anywhere. If this has to be the case I'll take Blinding Lights over another tedious Drake reign.
April 14, 20206 yr I'm loving DSN's longevity but I need Break My Heart to smash into the top 5 ASAP. i second this....
April 14, 20206 yr Hope Mabel,, little mix, jax Jones, Ava max and anne maire can climb or stay where they are. The albums is really seeing greatest hits style albums do well and I'm surprised sigala album is getting a revival, the album has done really well. Sigala, becky hill and jax Jones all gave great chart runs with their albums and all 3 will have gold selling albums which I wouldn't have predicted.
April 14, 20206 yr At the risk of sounding like Bjork, the Sigala, Jax Jones and Becky albums essentially are greatest hits. They're doing so well because they contain pretty much the entire discography of hit singles by their respective artists so nearly all streams of their songs (minus the top 2 songs by each) count towards those albums. Pretty sure their pure sales per week must be close to 0 at this point. Greatest Hits albums by their nature get more residual streaming numbers than studio albums (in general), which is why they're dominating the charts more than ever right now when physical sales have collapsed even more than they already had.
April 14, 20206 yr I agree they are like greatest hits albums as they contain so many singles and i think as they are big streaming albums the additional new songs every now and again is keeping them streaming and pushing up both the chart position and sales.
April 14, 20206 yr i second this.... Don't Start Now is only 5 weeks short of tying Doris Day's Secret Love for most weeks in the top 10 by a female artist! Break My Heart can wait! #BuyDontStartNow #DontStartNowStreamingParty
April 14, 20206 yr I agree they are like greatest hits albums as they contain so many singles and i think as they are big streaming albums the additional new songs every now and again is keeping them streaming and pushing up both the chart position and sales. they are not big streaming albums, nobody streams those albums, it's cos the songs are in hundreds of playlists...
April 14, 20206 yr Don't Start Now is only 5 weeks short of tying Doris Day's Secret Love for most weeks in the top 10 by a female artist! April 14, 20206 yr From Music Week - Dua Lipa and The Strokes are virtually neck and neck in the race for this week's UK albums No.1. Reigning No.1 Future Nostalgia (5,874 sales) is just over 200 sales ahead of The New Abnormal (5,628 sales), The Strokes' first studio LP in seven years, which is straight in at No.2. Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (4,273 sales) dips 2-3, while there are new entries for The New Toronto 3 (No.4, 3,628 sales) and The Rated Legend (No.10, 2,178), a posthumous release by Cadet. The Weeknd's Blinding Lights continues to dominate in the singles chart, selling a further 41,790 units. A non-mover at No.2, Roses (32,241 sales) by Saint Jhn remains its nearest challenger. The Top 5 is completed by Toosie Slide (No.3, 27,183 sales) by Drake, and Dua Lipa's Physical (No.4, 22,282 sales) and Don't Start Now (No.5, 21,666 sales). The highest new entry is Level Of Concern (6,093 sales) by Twenty One Pilots, which is at No.39. Those album sales :drama:
April 14, 20206 yr From Music Week - Those album sales :drama: Apart from the #1, they're better than last week.
April 14, 20206 yr What has been the lowest ever weekly total for a #1 album? I think I remember Rihanna's Talk That Talk having that title but that would've been 8 years ago.
April 14, 20206 yr What has been the lowest ever weekly total for a #1 album? I think I remember Rihanna's Talk That Talk having that title but that would've been 8 years ago. 7,948 for Blossoms' second week at #1 in 2016.
