There’s not two versions, at least not that we know of. There’s never been any confirmation or even indication that Darkchild attempted to rework it.

All we know is that there is the version of it they rehearsed to (maybe a demo at that point?) which was briefly heard in Before the Live One, and of course the full length live version from Earl’s Court.

Forever was the only Spice Girls album I bought, whereas for most it was the only Spice Girls album they didn't buy!!

  • I find that Let Love Lead The Way could have been up there with 2 Become 1 and Goodbye if the lyrics weren't so sacarine... The melodies and production are stunning, but the lyrics could have been tak

No, I have heard a Dark Child verson. You can hear it in a short video of them rehearsing some average dance moves. It was out there on the internet for a while.
I just checked and it is NOT the video you are thinking of. That is the POP version. I have seen the one with the rnb version. They are in a dance studio with wooden floors, whilst an rnb version of W.O.M.A.N plays out. It was very LQ. I cannot remember where I saw it - probably on a forum or another. Darkchiod really destroyed the band. He destroyed a pop dance song that was meant to be the lead single so badly that they couldn't use it.

First I heard of this. Would be great if you can find that video. Personally never heard that or seen such a video. You might be a bit confused with the actual video of them rehearsing the pop version?

Like, that video was edited a few times back in the day and the song played around with but BY FANS as far as I know. You might just be confused on that...

No, it was a LQ rehearsal, 15 seconds or so, of them practising some slow dance moves, stretching out their left arms at the start, to rnb W.O.M.A.N.
It's behind the scenes build up to Xmas in spiceworld and it's the same version they performed live.

There is only one clip of footage of them rehearsing Woman and it’s from Before the Live One. That clip is the only snippet fans have ever seen/heard of the song in a studio/demo form.

There’s never been two... if there was, we’d certainly all know about it, because this song has been discussed ad nauseum for over 20 years.

Too much  (pun intended)

Then unless this is a Mandela Effect, then you have overlooked a vital piece of Forever history! It is a SEPARATE clip, in which they are in a DANCE STUDIO with Darkchild's rnb butchering of Woman, and it sounds horrendous, with all life stripped from it. It is a really rare clip, but I HAVE seen it - twice.

Does anybody knows what were the four Forever tracks that Virgin intended to share on Napster?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/992877.stm

I actually do remember this. Virgin's deal wasn't with Napster. It was with RealPlayer. I used to play all my stuff on it...and for a short stretch of time, there was a little ad on the player where you could watch Spice Girls Forever content. I'm pretty sure you could watch the videos for Let Love Lead the Way and Holler...and behind-the-scenes videos set to Tell Me Why and Right Back At Ya. The behind-the-scenes videos weren't much. Just some hastily-edited together looks at their photoshoots. It was the usual "lowest-effort-possible" product that often plagued them during the Forever release. I figure cutting those videos was an intern's assignment for a day...

The leak of the whole album was on Napster, of course. At the time, I remember a lot of fans blaming the album's disappointing sales on Napster.

That's the demo they recorded and used as template for the tour. Thats the same audio as the clip in this:

As far as we know, there was never confirmation - or even talk about - Darkchild re-working WOMAN. He never touched it.

It’s a no for me. But I guess it was only a demo. Victoria sounded ok, Emma nasal and Mel C scratchy. The song to me still is a way better track than 40% on Forever. It really had potential back then. I also think with the right mixing and a bit of vocal enhancement they would have sounded amazing. As for the lyrics, no comment 😂 Thank God Geri wasn’t involved.

Yes, its only a demo so they would have perfected the production, voices and lyrics too. I actually like the lyrics as they are playful without being cringe...

And erm... Geri released Bag it Up, 'Ride It' and 'Half of Me' plus she worked on Song For Her too.... Cringe is her style and WOMAN actually sounds closer to the old sound and style than what we got later on ah

Geri also wrote some beautiful songs like Calling, Walkaway, There's always tomorrow and Loving me back to life... let's not turn this forum into a Geri bashing forum she didn't get all her solo success by fluke.

LOL well I agree. Just was pointing out that cringe lyrics can be written by everyone so no need to make that distinction you were making in the first place ;) :P

If I’m honest to myself, I think they’re amazing only when they’re together. Solo projects proved they struggle a bit. The power of 5 has no competitors. Even the silliest Spice song has still smart lyrics.

They were meant to be a group 😜 (and I say this even if I adore some of their solo efforts).

Makes me uncomfortable here at times.
