I can understand that with the type if song it is, I generally enjoy that style of song

I think the song is stunning and her voice works great with Jack's.

I would have hugely welcomed promotion from them together as it potentially would have made the top 40 but we will never know.

Don’t really see that having happened, Top 40 would have been a big ask for the 5th single from an album. It didn’t manage Top 100 with the promotion it did get & Jack isn’t a singles chart success sort of artist. But like you say, we will never know.

 

I do remember a few posters here being confident that it would chart for her, whereas I didn’t fancy its chances. At least it encouraged some album sales!

I have to agree with Jay re. Music's Too Sad Without You, overrated and just pretty bland. Will be one of my targets v soon

I just looked back at MTSWY’s thread and in its best week it was estimated to have sold 4,300 sales (roughly 3,000 downloads / 1,300 streaming), which was about 1,350 sales less than what was required to make Top 100 (5,650). #40 was almost 10,600.

It managed to sell similar to the 2 previous singles that also experienced promotion.

For a 5th single it managed a very steady iTunes chart performance peaking in the top 20.

Golden and A Lifetime To Repair didn't come close to the same peak.

 

True, but honestly going Top 20 on iTunes is fairly meaningless in the grand scheme of music consumption. 🤭 It performed mildly ok, but it didn’t reach the level of success that a few posters were thinking it could attain.

 

Now if she’d gone with Lost Without You instead, she would have reached #1

I know that's tongue and cheek but I wonder how many sakes it does take to get top 10 or 20

I don't think a top 20 for a few days on the chart would equal to more than 1500 actual sales.

I think it could have had a shot of attaining a chart entry had she performed it on XF instead of 'A Lifetime To Repair'.

It def would have, altr did nothing at all really after the performance. I think it's safe to say love is gone now in this round.

A singles boxset would have been a nice way to close out the Golden era.
