The album started off great but lost its way further in for me with a couple of songs I wasn't keen on or just thought were okay. Will definitely return to the album though and familiarise myself more!

 

'So in Love with Yourself' was a key standout, I would have backed this as a single! :wub:

 

Glad you got to hear it finally! Always interesting to see what people think years after it was released.

Dannii was caught between pop and dance and dabbled in both for a while but dance is where her success became.

 

No she wasn’t she made Euro dance jams for Japanese labels and recorded a dance album in 1995 !!

I think I may like this album more than some as I have heard it’s more urban. I can’t make Friday night but may listen to it during the day.

Body Language party will potentially be the most interesting one to date.

It has a mixed fan response.

Its very mixed among the fans for sure, the singles are fairly popular or some of them at least with the fans.

Slow is all round popular more than Chocolate and Red Blooded Woman.

With so many great tracks, its puzzling why they went with 'EIW' as the 2nd single, when there's several better songs, it's not bad, just a decent album track nothing more. How this era should have went is "All I Wanna Do" (SPOT ON CHOICE), "So In Love With Yourself" (In a radio edit form, could have easily done better with a top 10 peak maybe), "Disremembrance" (Not wait 5 months, release this in Jan or Feb '98 & if 'SILWY' did better, then this could have made more hype & in a less than busy week could have gone top 20 at least). Then to close out the cycle "Heaven Can Wait", given a slight remix to give it that extra kick & could have done okay with maybe another top 20 peak.

Keep "Coconut" as an odd Australian only release, as its quite a bonkers & random moment in her discography.

Also would have scrapped "If It Moves - Dub It" from the album, as it sticks out like a sore thumb, same goes for "Everybody Changes Underwater", but rather keep the latter as its more interesting & had "Someone New" on the proper tracklist instead, as well as "Keep Up With The Good Times".

There are some major highs for BL but also some MAJOR low points :lol:

Agree with the single choices too - I think Eternal just totally panicked after ‘Girl’ tanked and the era died - they obviously thought EIW was the right choice and sound for the time but even though it’s a good song it was never going to be enough on its own to revive a flop album.

The label def panicked andcas a result made a complete mess of everything. I'd love an interview where dannii talks in depth about her time with each label and how she felt about things.

Dannii may answer such questions with caution but she would have to feel let down by most of labels she worked with if she was to answer the questions with full honesty.
