November 9, 20205 yr Author There's so many big moments on 'Ray of Light' and I've often ended up sidelining 'Little Star' because of it, but I've tried to show it more attention as it is a really touching, gentle song. "May the angels protect you and sadness forget you" is a great lyric and the production conjures up feelings of wonderment and hope and sweetness, which complements the message beautifully. This is exactly my sentiment too. On such a glorious album, this is often forgotten about but it's such a tender and gentle moment that it really deserves more attention for being so. I adore the message behind the song and it shows just how passionate she was about the birth of Lourdes. Lyrically, I agree, it is one of her simplest - like a nursery rhyme of sorts ("Never forget who you are, little star. Never forget how to dream, butterfly") that then becomes more adult and realised and ethereal (as she sings of her broken heart and the pain she has gone through). It's a truly beautiful song! :heart:
