I hope Madonna can at least beat The Spice Girls she is an ICON!

 

The theme this time though was horrendous to be fair! It worked for Gaga but even Rihanna’s forum were panicking at this one as she’s another one like Madonna who’s had so many top ten hits and her 11-40 hits aren’t seen as highlights.

 

Would’ve been interesting to see how P!nk, Ariana, Katy and even GA would’ve rated had this theme been earlier. I think next time around this theme should be earlier in the competition!

Yeah I agree, I have liked the themes a lot as they've forced different songs to be sent but being forced to send tracks that didn't even make a double disc best of in the quarter final isn't ideal.

 

Yeah the themes have made this AFSC so exciting and unpredictable but I'd have thought top 5 or 6 would be the last themed round and it'd be free choice from there.

Yes, without knowing which 4 of 26 forums would make it this far, it was definitely designed to screw Madonna :P

 

Honestly haven't all artists (or MOST at least) had rounds and themes that were tougher? That's the whole point of the themes. Some artists with potential to reach much higher positions were totally screwed by themes (Calvin, Britney, Girls Aloud for sure). Madonna's doing amazing to be in the top 4.

That has been part of the fun, having some rounds more challenging than others which means you have to think harder about what to send. Sometimes, the songs sent in those circumstances end up performing better than expected! Considering we didn't even make the Top 10 last time, I think the theme rounds have helped our chances a lot. It's just quite unfortunate that for this round, there wasn't really any stand out choices due to the nature of Madonna's chart history (as Dandy said earlier, you can still have a big hit that misses the Top 10 nowadays, but in the physical era it usually meant an underperformance).

And... we're out. :( It was to be expected and honestly we came much further than I was expecting. To go from not placing Top 10 last time to 4th - I'm really impressed. Thanks to everyone who voted and helped us out with the choices, it's been so much fun!

 

Round 15 is "missed opportunity - a song that should have been a single. We had 'Forbidden Love' from Confessions lined up.

We could have had so many options next round !!

Madonna did AMAZINGLY. She has fans on here but not quite at the level of Gaga/Spice Girls/Britney et al, so she absolutely outdid expectations. So proud!

'Sky Fits Heaven' is another good shout! I wish this round and last had swapped places, Madonna has so many good non-singles that beat her non-Top 10s. :(

Well done on 4th place. Madonna is an ICON! The last theme just wasn’t so catered to her due to her having such an amazing streak of top tens it’s rare that she actually missed it!

Same, I think it may have done too! I noticed a few comments along the way of people saying how they've been introduced to new songs they love and honestly that is just as rewarding as making it this far in the competition.

Yeah the main thing is if even a few people discovered some new Madonna tracks - we already know this is the case with Dexton!
