Yes I can see it is very popular in here so I am sure they'll be fine in the end!!!

I also think you guys underestimate how well some of their solo songs could do!

There's some themes that we think will lend themselves nicely to some Melanie C singles (in some cases we actually have no choice other than to deviate from group singles :o ). Fingers crossed we'll make it that far!

 

Interestingly 2 Become 1 and Stop did about as well as each other in AF Idol 1.0:

 

Round 1: 9th out of 24 songs - Stop - 32 votes (out of a possible 71)

Round 3: 7th out of 20 songs - 2 Become 1 - 37 votes (out of a possible 82)

 

Which means that both songs had 45% of voters throwing a vote their way. I think either would be solid choices! I think I lean towards Stop now, and possibly saving 2 Become 1 for a future round. What do you guys think?

It did indeed but today it is their second most streamed song on Spotify and after wannabe probably sells the most now, it’s truly stood there test of time as a Spice song :wub:

I honestly think people here overestimate how much others liked Mel C or Geri solo tracks outside of the fanbase. I can totally see them being used not in a strategic way and us getting kicked out of the competition as a result of doing a Geri Halliwell and overestimating the viability of the solo music :coffee:

I agree - I don't have confidence in using solo tracks in any of the 'Free Choice' rounds. To me it seems like a no-brainer to go with popular Spice Girls group songs!

 

Solo songs will eventually be used in certain themed rounds though, providing we make it far enough into the competition! Some rounds will leave us with no choice but to go with solo songs. Those will definitely be nail-biting rounds!

 

A tease: There's an upcoming round in which there'll only one song we can viably enter that a) fits the description of the theme and b) has a slight chance of picking up some votes... that'll be an interesting one.

 

My worry with this competition is that there's definitely a few people who are quickly posting lists of songs they know, and disregarding the songs they've not heard. I don't think everyone is listening to every song. This is what worries me about when we have to send solo songs... I can imagine a lot of people simply disregarding them without giving them a go. That'll be a bit frustrating.

Then again I'm posting similar acts but still listening to all the songs so maybe they are doing the same... This round especially it was hard to justify giving a vote to a song I liked but have only heard for the first time over some of the classic songs that I've loved for years.

I felt the same as you! I am also probably posting similar acts each time though, even though I'm listening/ranking them before I post just to make sure. At the end of the day I suppose everyone has their favourite artists who they're always going to favour. There's someone who posts their full rank, and Spice Girls were towards the bottom of his list on the last 3 occasions :') So they're clearly not a Spice fan, we oop-
