  • #108 Results 1st - 21/41 Votes (51%) Initially released by the label Drowned In Sound, 'Oh My God' first charted in 2004 but only peaked at number 66 before it got re-released two weeks before Kaise

  • #110 1st = 21/36 Votes (58%) British Electronic group Hot Chip were ready to sweep the win here as their 2008 #6 hit 'Ready For The Floor' beats out the megastar Lady Gaga. The lyric 'You're My Num

I can't believe this result required Chez parachuting my vote in but at least we did eventually get it right x (ngl I don't even remember how the A1 song goes)

Apols for sitting out the polls here for a bit again, as ever my ability to keep up with this forum is quite variable

1st The Killers - Human (23 Votes Out Of 35) [65.71%]

The Killers and 'Human' win which is the 2nd time they've won with the 2008 UK Top 3 single. They saw off 'Complicated' by Avril Lavigne back in the no.36 final and 10 months later see off a song that also made it's chart debut in 2008 despite being 13/14 years older itself. It seems plenty weren't put off by this knowledge for them to win again. Kings of Leon had already appeared in two seperate survivors and come 2nd both times so it goes to show that a good song will do well twice.

2nd Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (12 Votes Out Of 35) [34.29%]

I was kinda expecting Jeff to be similar to A1 last survivor and pull closer to The Killers but it wasn't to be sadly as there was a 11 vote gap between. 'Hallelujah' was recorded and released eventually in 2007 13 or so years after he recorded it for his album Grace. Jeff would never live to see the success of it as he had drowned in 1997. Following the release of Alexandra Burke's coronation cover of it on the X Factor, fans bought in their droves Jeff's version as opposition which eventually resulted in it coming in at 2 but still this was a unique moment in chart history to see two versions become the Christmas top 2. Leonard Cohen's original version also made it to #36 that week!

3rd X Press 2 Ft David Byrne - Lazy (14 Votes Out Of 33) [42.42%]

4th Nelly featuring City Spud - Ride Wit Me (17 Votes Out Of 37) [45.95%]

5th Tom Jones & Mousse T - Sex Bomb (11 Votes Out Of 37) [29.73%]

6th Will Young - All Time Love (11 Votes Out Of 36) [30.56%]

Will post the results for this a bit later on instead and get the next survivor up shortly. Also not to forgot that the next Ultimate Survivor will be starting once the no.60's survivor is finished x

1st - Girls Aloud - Call The Shots (25 Votes Out Of 37) [67.57%]

Girls Aloud win another Survivor in the span of a month with 'Call The Shots' which was the 2nd release from the 2007 album Tangled Up. It peaked at #3 in November giving them their 10th top 3 hit within 5 years together by that point. It wasn't in question at all that they'd storm the win here. One of my personal faves from them so defo deserved win here even if it is rather poignant now.

2nd - Mary J Blige - Family Affair (12 Votes Out Of 37) [32.43%]

By the time 'Family Affair' gave Mary her 4th top 10 hit in the UK she had already been charting with singles since 1992. It was all over the radio when it came out and still gets regular plays every here and there. One of the defining RNB songs of not just the noughties but all time I'd have said and there was a real push for Mary to put up a tighter battle and I guess if it wasn't against such a big fave girl group in GA or another really popular act or song then it might have won but to come 2nd is impressive enough for it.

1st

(30 Votes of 41) [73.17%]

Winning with a whopping 30 votes out of 41 overall is Sophie Ellis-Bextor with her sublime 'Murder On The Dancefloor'. The second release from her debut album Read My Lips which we are all super familiar with having recently done a listen through of said album. The video is iconic as well and one of the best I think of the 00s if not ever just for how fun it looks with Sophie on the dancefloor.

2nd

(11 Votes of 41) [26.83%]

It was Kylie's 2nd release from Kylie's 8th album Fever having already had the mammoth 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' before it. 'In Your Eyes' is now the only one of the three first releases from this era for Kylie not to have won a Survivor but nevertheless a runner up is still nothing to scoff at. It's a fabulous pop track and Kylie was totally in her element in the music video as well!

3rd All Saints - Black Coffee (15 Votes Out Of 31) [48.39%]

4th Utah Saints - Something Good 2008 (20 Votes Out Of 36) [57.14%]

5th Snow Patrol - You're All I Have (13 Votes Out Of 32) [40.62%]

6th The Hoosiers - Goodbye Mr A (16 Votes Out Of 34) [47.06%]

7th Black Eyes Peas - Don't Lie (15 Votes Out Of 38) [39.47%]

8th Jay Z, Rihanna & Kanye West - Run This Town (13 Votes Out Of 42) [30.95%]

9th Britney Spears featuring Madonna - Me Against The Music (8 Votes Out Of 32) [25.00%]

10th Robbie Williams - Radio (7 Votes Out Of 39) [18.42%]

Good to see a wine for Sophie after Take Me Home was chucked out far too early in favour of some lame dance tracks.

1st

(21 Votes Out Of 35) [61.76%]

Taking the win here is New York based dance act iiO and Nadia Ali with 'Rapture', released in October 2001 and peaking at #2 behind... Afroman  it went on to spend 10 weeks inside the top 40 and it also made an impact in the US Hot 100 peaking at #46 there. It was one of the many standout dance tracks of that time and it obviously is very much enarmored today with it winning here over an even more popular hit. As mentioned a bit ago this was a 2 peaker and... so was the runner up!

2nd

(13 Votes Out Of 35) [38.24%]

Which leaves 2nd going to 'Valerie' which was originally a hit a year prior from indie band The Zutons whose version peaked at #9. British DJ Mark Ronson decided to record a cover of this very song with the late Amy Winehouse. The track managed to make it to number 2 and hang around for ages in the chart.

3rd Kelis Ft Cee Lo Green - Lil Star (17 Votes Out Of 30) [56.67%]

4th Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror (15 Votes Out Of 33) [45.45%]

5th Missy Elliot Ft Ciara and Fatman Scoop - Lose Control (13 Votes Out Of 30) [43.33%]

6th Blue - Fly By II (12 Votes Out Of 32) [37.50%]

7th Hi-Tack - Say Say Say (Waiting For U) (11 Votes Out Of 38) [28.95%]

8th Special D - Come With Me (9 Votes Out Of 30) [32.14%]

9th Westlife - Fool Again (15 Votes Out Of 34) [44.12%]

10th Westlife - Tonight / Miss You Nights (21 Votes Out Of 34) [61.76%]
