Going against the grain of opinions and saying a good top 2 imo but Lene in the top 2 would've been preferred in place of one of these two.

1st Place

Taking the win of this set with 20 votes [58.82%] is Mary Mary with 'Shackles (Praise You)'. The song peaked at #5 in June 2000 and is still to this day a much loved classic. They are also regarded as a one hit wonder despite looking up Polyhex and noticing they actually had another single make top 40 which I've never heard of and lasted one week in the 30's before sliding to 55 and out.

2nd Place

Finishing in runner up podium is Girls Aloud with 'Love Machine' which peaked at #2 in September from their 2nd album What Will The Neighbours Say? It picked up 14 votes [41.18] and gave Mary Mary a decent fight but not close enough. I'd rank it probably in the middle of their discography and the video is great too.

Will there be a 41-50 champion of champions? :)

Edit - we haven’t finished #50 yet oops!

Correct me if I'm mistaken but is this the first time Oasis have won a 2000's Survivor? :o Released in June 2002, 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' had to make do stalling at #2 behind the Elvis and JXL track. Absolutely brilliant song anyhow so can't say it's not deserved really. It also wins the battle of preferred #2 peaking songs that made up our top 2 from 2000 and 2002 respectively!

Runner Up

Putting in an impressive battle and at a couple of occasions it appeared very equal, Samantha Mumba's 'Gotta Be You' picked up 14 votes to land in runner up place. It was Samantha's debut single which ironically also reached number 2. It's a fun pop track and she never really put a foot wrong for me. What's a pretty interesting discography stat is that all her releases between 2000 up to 2002 were all top 10 hits and then she seemed to just up and left without putting out any more songs to trouble the charts again.

3rd Blue - If You Come Back (16 Votes Out Of 36) [44.44]

4th Cassie - Me & U (11 Votes Out Of 30) [36.67]

5th Simon Webbe - Lay Your Hands (16 Votes Out Of 28) [57.14]

6th Jay Z Ft Beyoncé - 03 Bonnie and Clyde (14 Votes Out Of 31) [45.16%]

7th Eminem - We Made You (10 Votes Out Of 31) [32.26%]

8th Ne-Yo - Because Of You (8 Votes Out Of 36) [22.22%]

9th Basshunter - All I Ever Wanted (8 Votes out of 32) [25.00%]

10th Sean Paul Ft Sasha - I'm Still In Love With You (11 Votes out of 39) [28.21%]

Bit gutted Sam Mumba didn’t win!
Mumba did release other songs but they either only charted in Ireland or not at all. Incredibly consistent with her UK hits though like you say.

Oh yeah I was referring to top 40 there. It's cool that she achieved peaks ranging from 2-6 only during those two years and then either miss top 40 with one song or not chart as you mentioned.

In an EXTREMELY close battle and I say this because an hour ago Arctics very likely would've lost out but a couple more voters since swung in their favour to win this Survivor. The track was their 2nd consecutive #1 single as well, topping the chart in Jan 2006 and knocking Shayne Ward off after 4 weeks. The song is about prostitutes x and it's a great song as well. One of their better efforts for me so a deserving winner.

17 VOTES OUT OF 35 [48.57%]

as alluded to in the paragraph about the Arctics we almost had KOL take the win but alas the tide did suddenly turn by the time I close the poll. From looking at this particular thread to see where 'Use Somebody' came last time it was in a Survivor (which was the 13's of the respective years which Scene posted in 2020).. it turns out they finished in... wait for it... 2nd as well  and what's funny about this is that the song also peaked at number 2 officially in 2008. So they are in some ways like the modern day Sam Ryder when it comes to stalling here (#2 in official chart, Eurovision and a handful of peoples 2022 EOY's including mine x). Airplay did over kill it for some too but clearly not enough for them to finish 2nd in TWO different 2000's Survivors!

(22 Votes Out Of 34) [66.67%]

Taking the win in the 5th installment of the Ultimate Survivor we see Pink with her first UK #1 'Just Like A Pill' rack up 22 votes of 34. Highly regarded as her best song and deservedly I think.

2nd

(11 Votes Out Of 34) [33.33%]

Runner up sees Sugababes and 'Hole In The Head', a big banging pop tune from them which made it's way to #1 in October of 2003. I'd say this is a superb top 2 although I did expect to see it a bit closer than it ultimately was tbh but still very deserving!

3rd Mary Mary - Shackles (Praise You) (23 Votes Out Of 34) [67.65%]

4th The Killers - When You Were Young (11 Votes Out Of 30) [36.67%]

5th Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out (10 Votes Out Of 29) [34.48%]

6th Madonna - Sorry (14 Votes Out Of 36) [38.89%]

7th Tomcraft - Loneliness (11 Votes Out Of 36) [30.56%]

8th Kesha - TikTok (9 Votes Out Of 36) [25.00%]

9th Shakira - Underneath Your Clothes (13 Votes Out Of 37) [35.14%]

10th Dido - Here With Me (12 Votes Out Of 39) [30.77%)

Correct winner out of the final 2 (Tomcraft was my favourite of the 10 and I'd probably also rank P!nk behind The Killers though).

1st Kelly Rowland - Work (Freemasons Remix)

[22 Votes Out Of 36] [61.11%]

Kelly Rowland released 'Work' in January 2008 which peaked at 4 in the process. The remixed Freemasons version of an otherwise bland song was the perfect recipe to making the song a success. It managed to pick up 22 of 36 votes and was expected to landslide but the runner up wasn't too far behind pretty much all the way. It's Kelly's best song for me so a well deserved win here.

2nd Bon Jovi - It's My Life

(14 Votes Out Of 36) [38.89%]

In an surprising turn of events Bon Jovi not only made the final but they also gave Kelly a good run for her money in this battle. It was obvious they wouldn't overthrow her to win though. 'It's My Life' reached number 3 back in June 2000 and became the bands 14th top 10 hit as well. This is a much better result for the rockers after their 90's classic ballad was sadly booted out quite early on in a survivor!

3rd Richard X Vs Liberty X - Being Nobody (18 Votes Out Of 33) [54.55%]

4th Christina Millian - When You Look At Me (16 Out Of 36 Votes) [44.44%]

5th Faith Hill - There You'll Be (16 Votes Out Of 41) [39.02%]

6th Britney Spears - Gimme More (13 Votes Out Of 34) [38.24%]

8th N.E.R.D. - She Wants To Move (8 Votes Out Of 33) [24.24%]

9th McFly - I'll Be OK (12 Votes Out Of 29) [41.38%]

10th Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah (13 Votes Out Of 39) [33.33%]

Green Day race ahead to win this Survivor. 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' was written about Billie-Joe's father and it's quite clear throughout the songs lyrics and how much depth and meaning it has overall. Peaking at #8 in June 2005 it became the bands 4th top 10 single despite being around for over an decade.

[7 Votes Out Of 36] [19.44%]

Which leaves one hit wonder Madcon with their cover of the Frankie Valli classic 'Beggin'. Taking the song to number 5 in 2008 and selling over 600k. It clearly has a lot of fans here to take it to the final 2 here!
