Assuming that it places higher than #10 on Friday, on a technicality that would be its own separate 2022 peak position, while the original release from 1998 would still retain its #10 peak, rather than it being rewritten as having a new peak! Which’ll feel a bit odd, but the change of label & title creates this scenario. A bit iconic that this one album is looking like it’ll give Kylie two Top 10s though!

 

I know in general that we’ll be able to celebrate & personally consider the new peak as being its new peak overall though!

 

Such a fantastic start to be midweek #5 with 6k. Can’t help but feel slightly gutted that it being scheduled a week earlier could well have resulted in it staying Top 5 for the official chart. The poster on Sayhey seems to think that it could land anywhere from 5 to 7 by Friday. Still absolutely amazing though, but if it stays Top 5 that’ll be the cherry on the cake.

 

Now I can’t help but wonder if BMG maybe should have thrown out a new CD and cassette. I do get the logic of having the focus be purely on vinyl as a first time thing, but maybe other formats would have really sealed the deal for Top 5.

^^ This, they didn’t even need to go over the top with other formats and keep the focus on the vinyl but they could have easily had a store exclusive CD and Cassette - would have been nice for the lenticular cover to have made a reappearance on one of those formats.

I was expecting it to be high up on the first mids but 6k of sales I was not expecting.

 

Guess it shows just how much and how long we’ve been waiting for this to appear on vinyl!

To think this reissue will achieve more or less half the first week sales of the original release!

Don't forget BMG are very reactive....

 

Could still have something like signed copies to make sure it gets a repeat.

 

Remember Disco release week. They tracked it all week and released cassettes, singed stuff, vinyl to keep it ahead.

Kylie Christmas is being released with Parlophone, not BMG. ;)

My main take after listening to it a couple of times is that Too Far is more messy than I recall it being, I'd love a re-recorded version with a different structure as I don't think they quite got it right

I think it’s almost a given that it will - if the reported 6k is correct (and there is no reason for it or to be as it’s from a very credible source on SayHey) even if it only sells a few more copies this week it should have already cleared enough to make the Top 10 :cheer:

Yeah definitely looks like this is the case going by previous similar situations but I hope Music Week and/or OCC clarify it in their reports. But yes definitely iconic!

 

Curious to know how well it’ll do in Australia where the album was actually a success.

Iconic as mentioned by Jay that the album which was a commercial disaster and used by the media to write her off will potentially return to the Top 10 and be listed as a new entry and her 19th to achieve it :cheer:

 

Would love the original release to be updated to reflect a new peak (if it achieved it) but I’ll take another Top 10 album to her tally if we can’t have that :cheer:

6000 sales is amazing.

The album is on the verge of achieving a new peak.

That said there will be very low sales for the album for the remainder of the week.
