Reminder that the UK position cannot be posted here until officially revealed by the OCC/BBC Radio 1 this afternoon! Thanks hens

Thanks Joseph.

The position is out there if you want to go looking for it, but yeah please don't discuss here until after the OCC/Radio 1 reveal!

Nice to see it at #25 in Germany, now outpeaking 'Enjoy Yourself', 'Light Years' and 'Kylie Christmas' which charted at #33, #35 and #34. Hope to see it chart in a few more countries, all of which will be for the first time.

Germany #25

That's great news!

Whatever happens in todays UK album chart reveal, we can also look forward to another potential top 75 position when they despatch the late picture disc and associated orders from the KM store late November!!!!

Didn't chart on the main chart in Sweden (we're very heavy on streaming), but #7 on the vinyl chart at least. It didn't initially chart here in 1998.

Amazing - it’s great that Townsend have deals with Germany, USA and others so that sales from her official store count towards the countries charts they are sent too, certainly have ‘Disco’ a boost in the USA.

What a result - Top 5, with its ‘proper’ title :cheer:

Kylie surely must be over the moon with this result, it’s one thing for it to be a fan favourite but another for that to translate into a Top 5 entry 25 years later

Yes definitely! It's certainly come a long way since its original release when it was considered a commercial flop and critics thought Kylie should stay in her pop lane. Kylie herself has had mixed thoughts on the album (or the era as an experience, rather) so it must be pleasing to see the response to this re-issue and it being awarded new peaks in her main markets.

This probably won't happen but the idea of 'Impossible Princess' somehow being represented on the next tour, maybe a mini medley or even just one song, would be a great treat.

Did she last revisit IP properly during Homecoming? Her version's of Too Far, Cowboy and especially Dreams were excellent. That was of course, 2006/7...eeeek.

I know she's used Breathe during KMO but don't recall others?

5 is excellent and a special moment for us Kylie fans, that was a tough era for her but I always knew she'd bounce back, especially after seeing her live at Shepherd's Bush....star quality always wins.

'Breathe' was performed at Kylie Presents Golden to promote the album release and was included on the first date of the Golden Tour but then removed.

Wow at the result, kylie has to be over the moon with Imposdible Princess getting a new peak and now another top 5 album,
Not top 100 here in Ireland :( I'd say most irish sales would have counted to UK sales .

I don't understand. How come?

From the OCC:

Eighties icons Simple Minds also claim their highest-charting album in four years with Direction of the Heart (4), while Kylie Minogue’s underrated alt-pop opus Impossible Princess celebrates its 25th anniversary by re-entering into its highest chart position ever (5). Originally released under the title Kylie Minogue, it peaked at Number 10 in 1998.

As expected, the OCC acknowledge this is a re-entry in their report but for the archive they've credited this as a new entry.

The OCC also confirm Taylor Swift pushes ahead of Kylie for second most #1 albums by a female artist.

From Music Week:

No.10 on debut in 1998, Impossible Princess was released – a little earlier than its age warrants – in four different vinyl 25th anniversary editions last week, and returns to the chart at a new peak of No.5 (6,384 sales, all but 44 of which are vinyl) for Kylie Minogue. This is the first time it has charted as Impossible Princess – its original release came fairly soon after Princess Diana’s death, and in order not to cause offence, it was an eponymous release, just as Minogue’s 1994 album had been.

From Kylie’s insta story -

LOVERS the Impossible Princess 25th Anniversary vinyl has topped its original chart positions!! Hello two top fives, UK and Oz, This is truly heartwarming, humbling and beyond amazing!
