^^ Actually feels like some effort has been put into it which is surprising for a Parlophone re-issue.
The new vinyl is almost upon is.

I think a Top 40 placement is on the horizon.

I’m getting #34 vibes for this - but whenever it lands I’m not too fussed tbh.

The one Kylie release that I have no interest in although slow are rbw are fantastic

I was talking to a friend (casual Kylie fan) and he asked me a question that I'm not sure I know the answer to. Has Kylie herself ever addressed the underperformance of Body Language given all the hype and expectations?

Not to my knowledge she hasnt, its strange as it was a fairly successful album it's just it underperformed on the back of the huge success of Fever and I think most of agree it was just the wrong direction after what we got with light years and fever it just wasn't what people expected or wanted.

I remember before the release of the album, she did talk about how diff it is to Fever, something along the lines of "and we needed to slow down after Fever". But I don't recall her talking about BL or KMO since release (she seems to retro every other album afaik).

Body language is a great album, I just think it was probably the wrong album to release straight after Fever. Body language was a very successfull album but probably just underperformed due to how much of a bug album Fever was huns. Let's face it, not many albums could live up to Fever!

Also huns BL only had 3 singles, so it was a shorter campaign than most albums, they had the material to release a 4th single huns in my opinion. Still standing or secret, for example!

Also BL never had its own tour (show girl huns followed not long after) which would have bumped up sales, so no 4th single or a tour did hurt its long term sales. And don't forget Ultimate Kylie came out very quickly after Body Language, so there wasn't even any time for the BL album to breathe, so I think the album would have sold a little bit extra if Ult K didn't come out so quickly afterwards, if BL had its own tour and it had a 4th single huns.

Just my thoughts huns

Just Carol Honey ♥️

Yes after BL underperformed and they’d released Chocolate they definitely decided to capitalise on her fame and bring out Ultimate Kylie instead. IBIY and GYU were much more like the Fever singles too. Much better financial return than releasing a 4th single off BL or releasing an extended version.

Of course, UK was viable because the Decon albums could be included. I bet Kylie/ Parlo wasn’t happy when the 1992 GH was re released with bonus mixes etc in 2002. Hence why she refused to let them use an image. They probably would have been planning UK being released at the end of 2005.

Though as we now know, the cancer diagnosis would have stopped that from happening.

Thanks Carol honey. My friend's question wasn't so much a "Why BL didn't perform to expectations" but more of a "has Kylie herself addressed it".

She seems very aware of what is deemed as failures and seems to steer clear of them - she done the same with IP, I think the lack of commercial and/or critical success for her work is something she takes really personally and she seems to think that they are universally disliked so never talks about them or revisits them to a great extent at her shows.

I think the fact she included both 'Dreams' and 'Cowboy Style' at Homecoming shows she must have some love for IP and be aware there's love for it out there too.

I think more than anything, for years now Kylie's been sadly playing it ultra safe with her tour set list choices because she needs that applause and doesn't want to risk not getting it. Similar reasons to why she quickly expunged 'Breathe' from the Golden tour. :(

I've noticed. At least IP gave her some kind of critical accliam and she sees it as a growing step...but other than Slow and perhaps Chocolate, she seems to forget the BL era. She NEVER talks about the KMO era or performs anything from it too, right? LOL! Although in all fairness, whilst there were some good songs on KMO, that whole Roc Nation era was a screw-up

I think Kylie is very aware of the love that is out there for IP among the fanbase which is why she touches on the album every so often, its also the album she needed to make to get to the stage that followed. With Body Language and Kiss me Once she does seem to have distanced herself from the albums and of of course lets get to it is another but at least with body language slow does get love from her representing the BL era where with LGTI and KMO she really doesnt revisit them at all.
The vinyl is finally released tomorrow - give BL some love with an extra stream or two.

A few months ago she was asked to recite her albums backwards in order and when it came to Let's Get To It she said "what was that one again?" - she's literally forgotten it exists!

Yes i remember that video and i was like yes Kylie has definitely moved on from that album, which is a shame really as although it is my least fave pwl album it does have some good tracks on it.
Amazon has not been my friend recently, no dispatch for Body Language yet -_-
