What about when Man Utd beat Chelsea 4-0 and everyone in the media proclaimed Man Utd were back?

Did they though? They didn't though.

I'd certainly take a draw if offered one.

Like Dobbo said no one thought that. Admittedly during the winning run last season they probably did, but that is nothing compared to outpouring of affection shown towards Liverpool consistently throughout the past 5/6 years even during the spell of not winning any trophies. The desperation for the 29/30 year wait to win the league is written all over the media. Besides Man United have a long reputation for being the most hated club in England. It's literally only fans of United that actually like United.

It was the first time Aston Villa have come from behind to win a Premier League game since December 2014 against Leicester City.

Manchester City may have won today but their kit is a bit Rhubarb and Custard.

Part of me remembers that Salah was so ineffective at OT last year he had to get subbed off and then I remember how garbage we’ve actually been since the Chelsea game finished.

Expecting a 0-4 score line tbh. Penultimate time I’m using my season ticket before my mam takes it for the rest of the year. Shame November is so sparse for games with an international break no one wants or needs

Normally I dislike the international break with a passion but I can't lie, I enjoyed the week without Premier League football last week. On the plus side all of the teams who have beaten United in the league so far this season all lost today.

Why do you think that is though?

Why does no one want or need the international break in November??

So close to winning our cup final... glad to see the winning record not get matched and that Pool are still intimidated by our back yard even with a squad as pitiful as the current one. If Shaw plays and Young isn't able to make a stupid decision we've become more than accustomed to by now it could have been even sweeter.

I'd have taken a point all day long, good point. The only thing I was surprised at was that Martin Atkinson let the goal stand such was his horrific performance today. Talk about being an absolute homer. Blows the whistle when James can't go man to man, but let's play on he's got a bloody nose. Absolutely shocking.

It had all the hallmarks of an FA Cup third round giantkilling tie. No idea why Man Utd can be really up for it against Liverpool but then struggle to get any rhythym against their midtable rivals!

Yep we have a mental blocker at Old Trafford. Glad that's over and done with now, easily the hardest game of our season.

Was still the same in the 70s/80s when we won all the leagues.. if one team had our number it was Man Utd.

Hilarious Liverpool got out of there with a point - we were so bad and they played above their level. So excellent result all round. Lallana was excelllent when he came on, in between the lines causing trouble!

That was a much improved performance from us and I hope we can maintain or exceed that going forward, it's no good playing like this against the top level teams but then reverting back to the Newcastle style type of performance against Norwich next week. Daniel James was man of the match in my opinion, I thought he was played very well throughout and really put his body on the line multiple times. Liverpool hardly offered anything during the match so it that and the timing of their goal makes it feel disappointing not to come away with the win but before the match the vast majority of people including myself didn't expect us to get anything from this match so it can be considered a good point in the grand scheme of things. And we don't have to hear anymore about any Premier League records being broken.

One thing that disgusted me a little bit was as soon as the match ended on the NBC Sports stream I was watching the presenters without any hesitation reminded everyone that we now have 10 points and in their words "end the weekend lower in the table than where they started". Because obviously dropping from 12th to 13th place is really plummeting down the table. Bearing in mind that they all said that we would lose today.

Daft daft mistake on our part to concede the equaliser but it’s our weakest spot on the whole pitch. Liverpool could have stuck a person there for the whole 90 minutes and scored two or three more.

Was surprised to see us put in such a spirited first 60 minutes. Disappointed we appeared to change tactics and sit back, really that’s the mistake that lead to the equaliser. First sub was too late and second was entirely wrong when the game was still winnable.

Still, having predicted a hammering I’ll take that. It’s more like we were 3 months ago so we just gotta keep on keeping on

You played better because you raised your game and didn’t have to dominate the ball. It allowed some hard pressing to be done and you did it really well to be fair. The problem is most teams expect Man Utd to have the ball so you can’t have that aggression for long periods and clearly you really struggle to create opportunities in open play. I’ve seen liverpool do this many times before - get an amazing result against a Top 6 club and then Watford absolutely pummel us, rinse and repeat.

Most pundits thought we would win easily but most pundits are also idiots. 90% of Liverpool fans would say we would take a draw regardless, it doesn’t matter what state either team is in the players and crowd are always up for it. Massive point for us here administ a period of tricky fixtures.

We had a couple of key players back too and the tactical switch to start the match with seemed to work well. So in many respects I’m happy with what i saw. Woodward has made it clear Ole is here for the rebuild and from what he’s said to one of the major fan publications, Ole in December laid out a huge plan that involved a bunch of young talent, one of which they signed for the academy because he was that young. I think recruiting wise, Ole is sharp so I’m happy to just play this season out. No euros next year would work in our favour tbh

Just my personal opinion but I don't think Ole is the man. He will do OK, but he puts his trust too much in certain players. The problem right now is I don't think there is a strategy, while some of these young players are good there is no way they are going to bring you the title chase, they are worlds away City and Liverpool.

Liverpool missed Salah a lot today. He is our top attacker in terms of everything. Main thing I saw is once again we are incredibly difficult to beat and scary that we are no where near top form yet.

Oh yeah I think you really missed his creativity today. You’re still struggling with a low block though and Klopp at FT made it clear he’s more concerned about bemoaning it than working out how to overcome it. Quite unfair as we were the more attacking team in that first half. Your first few attempts were more of a threat to our floodlights. Fitness got to us in the end and we got sloppy from 75/80 on. Took you guys a while but your fitness levels at the moment are on point

My personal view is that he’s not the man to win the title but he’s the man to rebuild the foundations. He gets the ethos, he’s got the right attitude and beliefs and right now he’s got a 3/3 success rate at transfers. He was a bit ruthless with deadwood and Phil Jones has been assigned to the box marked “only if literally everyone is injured except him”. It’ll take a couple of years and id love to be proven wrong and him to win the prem for us but right now I say let him play it out, continue his excellent recruiting and continue rebuilding the fitness. It’ll be a painful year but worth it to be competitive in the long run

Don't think we struggle at all with a low block, we've just won 17 games in a row! Just the same old narrative when City drop points  All teams have off days, it's why the Invincibles was such an incredible achievement. Everything was against us today (honestly that was one of the most blatant homer referring performances you'll see this season.. we commited 14 fouls to Man Utd's 6, yet we had 68% of the ball. Hard to work that one out - no wonder Ole was so lavishing of Martin Atkinson's performance ).

The problem with Ole imo is his views are in the past, he is trying to recreate something that worked 25 years ago. Sure he can change his tactics and it worked the 1st half, but like all good coaches, they find a way to counter the adjustment. Personally I feel he is out of his depth, he'll win battles every now and again but he's got about 12 mountains to climb. 10 points after 9 games is a terrible return and some tough away games coming up. It might be a rebuilding job but you can lose the fans really quickly and never gain them back, which I feel could happen.
