Ellie Goulding should have released Power this week then :)
Ellie Goulding should have released Power this week then :)

Why? It would hardly have made much difference to her chart position

This is without doubt the least exciting week for new releases all year

Not just this year! Worst for many years! Music is going downhill rapidly and I fear for its future.

Music will be just fine

sure she would have gotten more visibility as there is no other big release or even medium-size release

suer she would have been #1 on NMF on Spotify and that's more streams for certain

This would have been a good week for Rihanna or Adele to drop something out of nowhere :heehee:

I’m actually amazed there has been such a consistent and strong release schedule over the last three months; though the majority of it was music presumably recorded before lockdown.

Now with everyone, including most recording artists that don’t have the facilities at home, pressing pause for an extended period, it’s no real surprise to me that finally there’s a dearth of new product on sale. I’m sure Q4 will be very strong but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are many more weeks like this to come over the summer as the industry plays catch up.

Haven't quite a few releases been moved from this week due to the Black Lives Matter movement? Off the top of my head Ava Max and Benjamin Ingrosso (I know not the biggest names) have moved their music releases. I'm sure a few others will have done the same.

With this in mind I can sense sales for #1 (singles & albums) decreasing unless a major artist drops something. The new album releases they are hardly any big hitters, they are looking a bit sparse, with acts I hardly know.

Queens albums might see a big revival in the summer, they celebrate 50 years in the music industry.

RTJ4 is the big release of the week (and even that is not THAT big though)

RTJ4?? Can't work out what that is.
