going into this I thought Never Be The Same Again would be a certainty for a vote but it didn’t sound as good as I remembered :(

maybe because the "

" is on the playlist over the (better)
(the intro differs in production, and there may be some other minor differences also), I wonder if that has cost it any votes?

There isn't really any difference, it's just there's a longer intro on the album version. I don't think it would actually alter people's view on the song.

Not that it could change my vote I love the song but I do prefer the version without the long intro. I haven't listened to the album so idk how it sounds there, and I'm probably just so used to the shorter version.

I'm not sure how necessary it was to start the song with "I'm outta time, and all I got is four minutes (Four, four) Fikki fikki, four minutes, aye" repeating. I can kind of see the point in extended the song from 3:10 to 4:05 to make the song Four Minutes long - but then they go 5 seconds over so idk. If they'd have got rid of just one of Timbalands opening lines the song could very easily have landed at 4 minutes

Seeing it written out like this made me SCREAM! "Fikki fikki"

Katy Perry - Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J)

Lady Gaga - Telephone (feat. Beyoncé)

Little Mix - Power (feat. Stormzy)

Rihanna - What's My Name? (feat. Drake)

Taylor Swift - Bad Blood (feat. Kendrick Lamar)

I actually agree with you that the video/album version is better than the single edit! I nearly went with the album version too, but then I got nervous that it might be considered too long (I mean it's only 40 seconds longer, but I worried that approaching 5 minutes would be more off-putting).

Drunk In Love is 5:23 and it got through! :) Is that potentially the longest song entered into AF Idol?

I third this, I'd choose to listen to the extended intro any day. Timbaland's impact *___*

It would be interesting to have a list of the longest songs sent! I'm sure Drunk in Love must be one of the longest.

Honestly I think as a Spice Girls mod I over-analyse what will work and what won't in the playlist. :kink: I had a similar dilemma last round re: which version of I Turn to You to send (there's an album mix of the Hex Hector remix which is different to the single version :drama: We went with the single version in the end which was probably the correct choice).

Maybe I should have followed my initial gut instinct to use the Never Be the Same Again album version. Dan may well be onto something that people are feeling NBTSA isn't holding up well now / isn't as good as they remember, because it's not the version they've heard before.

As well as the different intro/outro, there's little production changes scattered throughout the song. One example: "Now I know that we were close before" at the start of verse 2:

[single Edit]
You guys are remembering to combine votes for 4 Minutes with Me Against the Music to get Madge’s true total right?
If Beyonce gets more votes than Madonna this round it means we're back in for Round 12, right?
