Guys... there isn't a video yet. They haven't even peaked on airplay (it's doing well though - but that's on mostly B/secondary-List rotation). They haven't had a vertical video (is there even one planned? Idk). HHUK playlisting is rising. They're stabilising on streaming services (except Amazon by the sounds of it).

Can we have all of those things before labelling it a flop? If all of those things happen and it's out of the top 40 with no sign of recovering, then sure, I'll admit I was wrong, but until then, I'm not gonna label it as one.

Jeez, y'all are exhausting

You know it's so weird how people have accepted the current pop climate- as in songs taking at least a couple of weeks before taking off / achieving their peak but with Little Mix they're expected to have instant success and if not they're branded a flop or the song is.

I agree that Holiday sorta gets stale after a while, but it's still a decent summer song that can definitely take off and be at least another top 15 hit for them. Branding it a flop and comparing it to Bounce Back is getting old.

Out of the top 50 on Spotify again 🥴. I'd say the pessimism is warranted atm, this isn't doing well.

Little Mix songs usually peak early on, I think that's why people are thinking this isn't gonna do much.

Love Me Like You is an example of one of their songs what took a long time to peak by their standards. I’m not saying this is gonna do that but you never know.

Maybe it’ll just spend a long time in the 30-40 region of the chart rather than the 10-20 range?

It's almost comical how even though their biggest hits have always been the ones with huge pop choruses, they STILL insist on releasing stuff like this. Like, I'm all for artists releasing whatever they want and think it's important they get a say in single releases but the DNA album (pop) was big, then Salute almost got them dropped so Black Magic saved them and they were on fire until they released their 'grown up' stuff again and now even though Break Up Song was their biggest hit in about 18 months they still release something chill and laid back afterwards instead of releasing what the public want from them.

This is now 67 on Amazon  Really hope it keeps rising however i don’t think it’s on any of the main playlists.

This is what I meant with "learn from this"!!

Like surely even stans want them to do well for the sake of them being able to keep releasing jams???? I mean they seem to love their pop tunes just as much

Lol at this only climbing when it's 30+ degrees.
“Please stop releasing this music even though you’re still getting consistent Top 40 hits and selling out tours and also it’s the music you are actually writing and want to put out”. Somehow I don’t think that argument is going to work.

I mean... I think they'd rather be getting million selling hits like Glory Days era than a few top 40s that barely go Gold. I doubt the profits from BUS/BB/Holiday split 4 ways is gonna compare to the likes of SOTME and Touch. Weaker hits could lead to their touring taking a hit too.

I'm still clinging to hope that the Holiday video and performances could save it though.

I hope the next single attempt is the one that's apparently similar to Touch

if you can’t hear the TWO big pop choruses quite clearly evident in holiday, i’m afraid you might be deaf x

Well they're clearly not good or memorable enough considering how badly it's flopping.

Less single success = less album sales = less tour tickets. LM5 album and tour had Woman Like Me and they were still insanely popular after the Glory Days era. I hardly think a LM6 album and tour will be that big if it's being launched off the back of singles that perform like Bounce Back and Holiday.

It's not even about them being on a natural decline. They're still getting big support on Radio 1 and Capital and they're big celebrity names and get fairly decent'ish streaming playlisting (not the best) so clearly the issue is the songs. Break Up Song was a bigger hit than their recent output because it was a great song. Holiday is flopping because it's not.

That argument works for labels that need profit tho x

Granted they are not at that point yet but with every flop their support falls 🤷‍♂️ But like I said, I hope this turns out to be a hit for them, just for their reputation

The issue is clearly not just the songs. Sure, Holiday doesn't seem to be connecting with the public. But Break Up Song, as pointed, was a great song and its success is underwhelming compared to its quality. You can't get much better than it when it comes to pop songs. It's clear that the public's reception to them has eroded in some way outside of their fanbase even if radio itself is still very supportive (as they should, considering the amount of interviews the girls did).

We all know quality has never been the it factor to whether a song will become a hit or not. At this point, I believe only The Search could elevate their profile again. It's not just about the songs, it's about them.

It'd be a lot easier if they were out there doing Joel Corry-ish songs (light EDM), but there's visibly way less space for pop in the landscape right now.

Up to A List on Radio 1 on Friday :D

I really hope we're getting the video on Friday... It'd be such a misfire to release it later than two weeks after the release date. They might've as well waited a bit to release the song.

It's 29 in todays mids.

At the same point BUS was 22, I believe. It's on course for a similar 2nd week chart drop.

And I'm with kye on the 2 hooks thing.

Well they're clearly not good or memorable enough considering how badly it's flopping.

:mathswoman: Its been out for 11 days.. How on earth can you be so quick to call this a flop lol.. Its increasing on streaming, its on A list next week, the MV will be coming soon and its rising on HHUK which will hopefully help the Spotify position. As stated on this page many times, its probably best to hold off calling this one a flop before we get the music video and while we wait for the playlisting to rise and the airplay to kick in. Give it time  If by the time those things come and its still not doing any better then fine, ill agree with you but its not like its freefalling on streaming platforms yet etc

EDIT: Up to 60 on Amazon Streaming :heehee:
