July 17, 20205 yr TYOJ is a three time cover. It’s not Blondie And Billie did a very similar version to the kittens. I thought Be With You was going to come 2nd !!
July 17, 20205 yr Got some catching up to do, so here goes... You Are - Dunno why they didn't just release this, it could have been another top 10 hit easy. Some nice guitars & synths over some steady beats, along with some decent warm sounds & some good vocal moments. Not one of my personal faves from them, but its a decent enough effort. Eternal Flame - It's a cover by numbers, but it works well enough for the time anyway, along with some okay R&B nods. Doesn't beat the Bangles original in anyway, but what could? It's OK - A slick little pop number that was a great choice to lead a new era, with the girls showing off their new mature sound with some acoustic guitar & strings which gives it that perfect mellow summery sound. A firm standout in the Kitten's discography. Be With You - The Disco flavoured anthem that offered a nice contrast to the ballads they were releasing at the time & comes as a breath of fresh air, with this string-fused track that uses the ELO sample wonderfully. Fantastic track, my personal fave by them, which is why I gave it my 11.
July 17, 20205 yr Author 3 8.52 The Tide Is High (Get the Feeling) Thank you baby: 11 - Cameron, …ready for it I wouldn't wanna be ya: 3 - Tawdry Hepburn The second single from Feels So Good brought yet more success for the girls. Originally by The Paragons, The Tide Is High is best known as a Blondie song and was also covered by Billie Piper not long before. For Atomic Kitten, with added "Get the Feeling", it hit #1 for three weeks and became their second best seller. u8CMsQ-p1ls
July 17, 20205 yr I had this in CD single, and my dad picked it up as I was at school, we had 3 Discs in one :cheeseblock: So gave one to my next door neighbour and my dad's best mate. :') A fun and an actual decent cover! I like what they did with it.
July 17, 20205 yr Author 2 8.64 The Last Goodbye Thank you baby: 11 - Nightcrawler, Jonjo, ElectroBoy, lewistgreen, kye, Simon I wouldn't wanna be ya: 5 - Tombo Of course the #1 is now clear, but first, let's shine some light on our #2. The Last Goodbye was picked as the third single from Feels So Good and teamed up with Be With You for a double A-side release. The track is a brilliant winter-themed ballad and peaked at #2 in the UK chart! It has the highest "low" score of 5, every other song all achieved at least one score of less than 5. wXAnTpqGITw
July 17, 20205 yr What a beaut! Absolutely adore this and the intro is instantly recogniseable. Their best for me, for sure! Pleased it got to #2, but would have preferred if it beat WA.
July 17, 20205 yr Author 1 9.55 Whole Again Thank you baby: 11 - vibe, Spiceboy, Chemistry, Feel_The_Fever, Slick, Mullo, Mack, HausofGhibli, Sarah, Jay I wouldn't wanna be ya: 0.5 - Scene Of course! Whole Again was a pivotal moment for Atomic Kitten. With middling singles success and underwhelming album sales, the girls persuaded their label to release Whole Again as one final chance. With a low budget video and an old photoshoot used for the single cover, Whole Again was released - and shot to #1! Even Kerry's departure from the group part-way through the campaign wasn't enough to stall it. The track's gone on to sell over 1 million copies, and has cemented itself as a girl group classic. It received ten scores of 11, as well as a further thirteen scores of 10 - incredible! 1V0xQkk9kbc

July 17, 20205 yr Not a surprising winner, but it's obvious as to how it won. It really was their 'Black Magic' moment in that it literally saved their career, in a HUGE way! I prefer other songs by them, so it's far from my favourite, but I don't begrudge it winning. --- Thank you for this Joseph! Was a very welcome rate and swiftly & lovingly presented!
July 17, 20205 yr 'Whole Again' is THE Atomic Kitten single. It was so huge and remains a classic. I love it.
July 17, 20205 yr Can't argue with that winner, and 'The Last Goodbye' is a brilliant song. 'The Tide Is High' though, what an awful cover version that is.
July 17, 20205 yr Nothing below a 6 in the average scores though, when will all the AFs? :cheeseblock: I love Whole Again so glad it won but I’m in awe at my fave coming in at #2 *.* I’ll only ever listen to Kerry’s version of Whole Again. Jenny’s version doesn’t feel right to me as it was a rushed re-record and plonked on the album reissue (though I do prefer the American video they did)
July 18, 20205 yr Whole Again was an instant classic and is, in my opinion, one the the best pop songs of the last 20 years. It's one of those songs everyone seems to like as well, timeless masterpiece. The Last Goodbye is a stunning, winter-y ballad. Surprised to see it land this high, although it has always been one of my favourites as well. The Tide Is High is not one of their best for me, but still a very good song. Even though it's a cover, they really made it their own.
July 18, 20205 yr I have such fond memories of getting The Last Goodbye CD single for Christmas along with Christina Aguilera's Stripped and The Cheeky Girls' Cheeky Song.
July 18, 20205 yr The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling) - A pretty decent cover that's quite faithful to Blondie's version. yet given a fresh updated beat with some good vocals. The new bridge of "Get the Feeling" was a nice added touch that rightfully gave the girls another smash hit. They were really at their peak here, shame it would be quite a slow decline after this. I remember Billie Piper's version from 2000 & was set to be a single for her, it would have been interesting to see how her version would have faired, but doubt it would have had the same success as Atomic Kitten's version, as her career was starting to cool down due to her last single 'Walk of Life' only peaking at #25. Plus she opted to quit singing & pursue an acting career. The Last Goodbye - So glad this has done so well here, as I do feel this gets overlooked quite often, (overshadowed by its counterpart 'BWY'. They continue to show off their more mature sound with some nice affected synths, with some nice rich warm vocals, some fantastic looping acoustic guitars which gave the song a nice warm & cozy feel. The girls pulls this sound off with such ease & gave them another well earned hit. Whole Again - A more than worthy winner & something that not only saved their career's but also changed their sound as the general public seemed to warm more towards their ballads than their previous up-tempo numbers, as this has more power & more of an edge to it, can't believe the label were gonna sit on this, an all0time iconic classic.
July 19, 20204 yr I'm very glad to see that Whole Again has won! It's such a classic and truly deserved all the success it achieved. Imagine if their label had lost all faith in them after Follow Me & Right Now (the album) bombed, and dropped them without giving them a final chance? There were definitely some acts from that era who were dropped after singles/albums that performed better than those Atomic Kitten releases. AK were very lucky! Not sure I would have predicted The Last Goodbye as the runner up, but it is a lovely song though. The Tide Is High (Get the Feeling) is such a feel-good bop, I'm happy to see it as high as third place. The addition of a new bridge section was a great idea too! Thanks for hosting this Joseph
July 19, 20204 yr I find TLG really dull !! Surprised it has done so well. This was fun and made me listen to the GH this week!
