Seeing songs such as Say Something outsell others with much higher peaks indicates the fan base is as loyal if not more loyal than ever before.

Not really... comparing singles from the mid 2000s to 2020 is like chalk and cheese.

Chocolate - released in the physical era when sales had dramatically fallen. Downloads weren’t included in the chart, but they weren’t a popular form of consumption yet anyway. It was the third single from the album; generally each single from an album would have lesser returns. Physicals were only stocked for a limited amount of time before stock depleted, so the total would naturally stop increasing.

Say Something - released when streaming is the biggest form of consumption, it has constant availability, so it will consistently rack up “sales” through people listening to it. It’s had months to accumulate the sales total it has.

It doesn’t really indicate that the fan base is more loyal now (in terms of her singles) than 15 years ago, it’s just a reflection of how times have changed in a very significant way, and that sales from these different eras really aren’t comparable.

While not comparable Kylie singles are managing to build up sales and are not going as complete unknowns but your points are all very valid which I understand the market changes.
We know singles success days are over so our mindsets have changed, while i had hoped for 1 top 40 from Disco i quickly settled for been very happy with both magic and say something going top 60.
^^ So there were 70 copies available and not all would have sold to UK fans so 35-40 copies to reach #41 potentially :kink:

Not a lot really is it! But I guess it's over a 6 week period of being A-Listed only then a few others like first play etc
Say Something is worthy of more plays and it's sales lead over Magic but narrowly as, Magic is very good too.

Say Something is so enjoyable on vinyl.

There is something unique from the sound vinyl brings.

Say Something is hugely euphoric, playing it over a blue sky is majestic and gets me hooked more than ever to the song.
One of the main things I miss is the Kylie physical cd single. We were regularly treated with good B sides and during the last two eras, these have been very thin on the ground. I agree with above comments that it’s very difficult to compare current sales of singles with her earlier hits. Streaming has been a big game changer and people’s streaming habits are very different to buying physical CDs or downloads even.

I still miss the cd singles and b sides, dont get me wrong I'm loving getting the vinyl of recent singles but the early psrlophine tears were such a great time for singles.
