ROBBED, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for this but it's one of those I appreciated so much more this time around when listening to do this rate, a Shakira-esque song with a Middle Eastern tinge.

Lying Down is phenomenal! My highlight from the Courage album.

I liked the courage album but didn't love it as much as some of her previous albums.

TFTEISYF is so beautiful. Sad to see it go so early :cry:

Call The Man is not high enough!!!!

 

Although really it is where I expected it to finish

Those songs kinda coming where i thought they might on the countdown.

I'd put Call the Man lower. That one never appealed to me for some reason.

No big shocks here in this lot -

"Call The Man" - Not one of Celine's most memorable numbers, but quite decent, full of her usual theatrics & drama, but easily the most forgettable 'FIY' single & not one I would have chosen for a single release. "Make You Happy" or "Declaration of Love", either of which would have been far better.

"First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" - A nice cover that remains faithful to the classic original. Totally forgot about this until this rate, its okay but been done to death.

"Beauty & The Beast" - The only track in this lot that stands out & will always have that nostalgia to it, 'Beauty & the Beast' is one of my fave Disney animated classics of all-time & will always have fond memories of this. Plus this was the track that became her breakthrough in the UK.

"Lying Down" - A firm standout on her latest album, full of Celine's usual class. This would have been huge back in her heyday for certain.

"Eyes On Me" - Like the Middle Eastern feel to this, but other than that this falls kinda flat for me.

This song was a turning point for Celine and her career, one that she won Eurovision with in 1988, and of course a huge event like that gave her her first taste of international stardom before she became an icon in the 90s.

This duet with Barbra Streisand is a meeting of two powerhouses, it is a bit overproduced and 80s OTT cheese but for the artists involved, it works.

I know this more because of Glee, Rachel sang it in Season 4 :lol: This is also randomly the biggest selling song by a non-Japanese female in Japan?! Seems really random, but get it Celine.

Finishing off this section is a cover of an 80s classic, Heart's Alone. I love the original so much so it's hard for anything to break through, but Celine does a good job of it, making it her own a little but still keeping the magic of the original enough.

I low-key prefer Celine's version of Alone.. oops!

Celine's biggest French language hit I believe, her only one to chart in the UK as well. I love this, it's got a quite timeless feel and I can see why it stood out and has endured among all her French language material. The lowest song to get multiple 11s :o

This was released for Deadpool 2, and is probably my least fave of the top 20 oops, but I did give it a 7 still which is a testament to Celine's singles discography!!

The highest song from the 2010s in this rate, and also Celine's highest peaking UK single since A New Day Has Come in 2002! This is written by Sia and it shows, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

WHAT A SONG Taking Chances is. Ngl, it took me a couple of years to truly appreciate it (actually I think it might have been Glee! Lol) but it's a masterpiece and very underrated!

 

Love Me Back To Life is great too. I can take or leave the rest, but they're all good!

Kicking off the top 10 is a cover that is probably better known in its original form sung by Jennifer Rush. I prefer Celine's tbh, perfect for her voice and you could swear it was written for her, she owns it.

A New Day Has Come is absolutely gorgeous, I was hoping it'd be higher but that average already :o

I have feelings that 10's song like Ashes and LMBTL finished way higher than some of her 90's classics mainly Falling Into You and Pour Que Tu M'aimes :nocheer:...my top 2 Celine songs :wub:

 

I expected Power Of Love Top 5 tbh :o such a powerful song and as Liam said, she owned it!!!
