...or arguably a lot lot longer since the last round!

4th place: Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U

UK chart run: 30-3-1-1-1-1-2-4-9-13-20-38-47-57 (14 weeks)

Finishing in 4th spot is 1990's second biggest hit, the career defining Nothing Compares 2 U from Sinead O'Connor. Alas the last round was the one to make Sinead cry those tears all over again as she was booted out by the Buzzjack collective. The song itself was of course written by Prince (the 2 and U in the title giving it away) and is my preferred version of the song, the original is good but it doesn't have the emotion of Sinead's delivery. I think I'm correct in saying this was the first song Prince wrote to make it to #1 in the UK, he'd had several top 10s in his own name and had provided Manic Monday for The Bangles but none of them had quite made it to the top. He would of course later finally have a chart topper himself with The Most Beautiful Girl In The World in 1994, one of those 'Stevie Wonder' moments where a track far from his best made the top. As for Sinead, she never troubled the top 10 again after this, although she did sporadically make the top 40 throughout the 1990s.

The remaining songs all polled six votes each last time around so this round could go any way - time to get your votes in for your least favourite...

Beats International are getting my vote again now. I do really like everything but Vogue and Killer are pretty iconic singles for me.

I just listened to the parent album for Nothing Compares 2 U recently as part of my bucket list project and it was quite a bit different to what I was expecting, but was to be expected given this was a cover. One of my favourites anyway, her delivery is beautiful  should've won xx

Killer is easily the least good here.

Beats International yet again.

I think Prince wrote I Feel For You, Chaka Khan's 1984 chart-topper, so of all the Prince songs to top the chart, the least good one was his own :D

I thought you were waiting for precisely that time period to open the next round  you even closed the previous thread so noone could comment and remind you to start the next round

Anyway glad Sinead is out leaving a great final 3. Voting Beats Intentional.

Went for Beats International this time as Killer is the better Dance track!

This was her first appearance on top of the Pops 2 years before this release - 'Mandika' shows the other side to her

Any final votes? We're a little short on the usual level so you could make a difference!
Did not expect Beats International to be in the final 2!
I do not understand the votes for Killer. After Enjoy the Silence, Killer was the best thing to happen in 1990.
