I bought Can't Speak French on CD single (!!! - tbf I didn't dislike it as much at the time as I do now lmao) and Hoxton Heroes was such a good B-Side! I understand why it's a B-Side, but I honestly think it should've made TU! It coming right after Black Jacks is perfect and flows brilliantly tbh.

I love how this is such a middle finger up to music snobs who thinks guitars = real music or that you have to write your own music for it to be meaningful (despite songwriting and singing being totally separate talents).

It is funny hearing Cheryl singing "chart at 57" following the performance of 'Let You' though.

Memory of You is LUSH, too good to just be a b-side!

I actually only knew Nicola's solo version of this first (a b-side to Yo-Yo!) but I love both versions similarly tbh

One of their best B-sides! Another that I didn't realise wasn't sung by the whole group. Who would have thought Kimberley could lead on a Girls Aloud song? *.*

I don't think I appreciated Hoxton Heroes much in 2008, but I'm really enjoying this listen! It's so punchy, and those lyrics are so sassy and acerbic

Not Cheryl ending up having a #57 single of her own after singing "chart at 57" in this song :cheeseblock:

Memory of You    Their best B Side imo! Only Kimberley and Nicola contribute vocals on this song. I think this might be Kimberley's shining moment in Girls Aloud tbh, outside of the Something Kinda Ooooh kink in your steel moment!

Fans were pissed that this was only available on the The Loving Kind picture disc. There were campaigns for it to be released properly! Thankfully just months later it became available via the Singles Box Set *.* I'm glad it was included on Ten so that it ended up having a home on streaming too.

This should've made OOC. This gives me strong Kylie vibes. It's an absolute bop and would've served well on the album!

That listening party went so quickly! Thank you guys for participating, I've had a blast, and it's so amazing to see us all band together in such a scary time. Let's all pray for Sarah
Thank you so much for running this, Joseph  a welcome reminder why Girls Aloud will always be one of my favourite groups of all-time.

Thoroughly enjoyed that - a trip down memory lane was just what was needed.

Thanks Joseph for hosting and thanks to all that contributed - Jay, your commentaries have been fantastic!

That was an incredibly enjoyable listening session  Definitely a lovely reminder of why Girls Aloud are most definitely one of the greatest girl groups ever  Thank you everyone for your contributions to this thread, it's been fun!

Hearing Long Hot Summer with Joseph and Jade now... this under-appreciated bop has aged surprisingly well! I distinctly remember at the time how it felt like it fell really flat with the public. Then Brian Higgins ended up throwing the song under the bus. I don't think this was deserved. :(

One of their best B-sides! Another that I didn't realise wasn't sung by the whole group. Who would have thought Kimberley could lead on a Girls Aloud song? *.*
AND IT WAS MADE AS THE PICTURE DISC B-SIDE ONLY

:cheeseblock:

They didn't trust her :')

Thanks for this Joseph! It's been a blast and lovely to relisten to their discography during the recent news.

WE LOVE YOU SARAHHHHH!

EDIT: Also, Long Hot Summer is a bop and has grown on me more over time!

'Long Hot Summer' is a total classic, I loved it at the time and it remains one of their best.

I enjoyed reading through this thread, I'm gonna have to revisit their B-sides - also, totally forgot about 'Androgynous Girls'! I need to rediscover that beauty!

Also can I just say that 'Crazy Fool' >>>>> basically the entirety of Cheryl's solo career, and I wish it'd been more like that.
