then we had a couple different iterations of Better Alone shoved into our ears, which went over like a lead balloon. To me, her push of Better Alone felt like her jumping on the anti-Spice bandwagon because it was one of the same bandwagons that took down Reason. I still can't fathom the budget being wasted on TWO videos for Better Alone, meanwhile, Last Night On Earth was just sitting there waiting for a big stadium moment. :nono:

Agreed completely! She must really have loved Better Alone to want to give it a second shot in Europe and Australia, and even shoot a new video for it, but I couldn't understand the faith in that song. I thought as soon as it was announced after First Day of My Life that it was a mistake. Oop!

  • Living without you is a masterpiece

  • Listening again to the album (and some b-sides) this morning, I find that the album has aged a bit better than I expected too. Not sure I will ever invest in this vinyl unless I can find it for cheap

I always found it hilarious that she hated On the Horizon so much clearly because she found it cheesy.

She then went on to do I Want Candy haha. Ill never forget the denden forum reaction to her doing I Want Candy and its video.

I don't think she loves I Want Candy. It was the main theme of the movie and maybe she did a bit of money.

Horrendous choice, but it was clearly a payola decision for her to do it. I suppose it got her a top 10 in a few countries...

Reason is the second solo album by Singer/Songwriter Melanie C. Originally released in 2003, and reaching Number 5 on the UK Albums Chart, the album went on to be certified Gold in the UK.

Available on vinyl for the very first time on Record Store Day, Reason features singles “Here It Comes Again”, “On The Horizon” and double A-side “Melt / Yeh Yeh Yeh”, as well as a plethora of B-sides and bonus tracks such as “Independence”, “Love To You” and “Wonderland”.

During her time as a member of one of the biggest girl groups in history - the Spice Girls - Melanie sold more than 85 million records, releasing three studio albums, 13 singles and winning a host of awards including a BRIT for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. As a successful solo artist, Melanie has achieved over 3 million album sales, two Number 1 singles, and six Top 10 singles, including the iconic hits ‘I Turn To You’ and ‘Never be the Same Again’ featuring the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez.

Interesting choice of artwork, not sure why it's not the original?

Buzzing for this !!

Maybe because the original didnt have the title on?

Apparently the label no longer has the rights to use the photos? Which seems rather unusual. Would it have been that difficult to renew the rights? It seems like quite the last resort to only go with text. It makes the overall artwork look quite bootleg/unofficial.

Nevertheless, I'm happy that this is happening. It's quite surprising that they've gone with a 2xLP to include all the B Sides, and even Independence Day! :o I love that they went the extra mile there.

Reason vinyl bonuses:

Side C:

1. Independence Day

2. Like That

3. Living Without You

4. I Love You Without Trying

5. Never Be the Same Again (Live Acoustic Version)

Side D:

1. Wonderland

2. Goin' Down (Live Acoustic Version)

3. Love to You

4. Knocked Out

5. Yeh Yeh Yeh (Shanghai Surprise Remix)

Maybe, the original design will be for a global releases. This one are just a limited one.
  • 1 month later...

Not her best album imo.

So, someone confirmed that Virgin does not wanna pay the rights for the pics to use for vinyl.

The label's lack of care to be bothered to spend out on the photoshoot, makes me feel at least a bit reluctant to support it... but I know the collector in me just won't be able to pass on it, sigh!

I listened to this from start to finish today and enjoyed it!!

My Single Choices

  1. Lets Love

  2. Yeh Yeh Yeh

  3. Here It Comes Again

  4. Home

On The Horizon did well on radio so for it to miss the top 10 is still a shock!!
