The album is #10 on Apple now interested to see what impact an actual single will have now!

A person who's heard it says the 3 best song on the album are Happiness, Break Up Song and Sweet Melody! So I have high hopes.

I hate that cause I really don't want the other album tracks to be duds :(

 

If these are the most "pure" pop then, okay I'll deal with that but.. I just hope the rest of the album pans out just as well.

The teasing has started! They have sent emails out on their newsletter teasing "something sweet" coming in the next week.

This was the problem with Get Weird and Glory Days - amazing singles but basically terrible albums. LM5 was a great body of work and cohesive but it didn't have the highs that those albums had.

 

 

Glory Days was pretty great other than 2-3 duds. Especially the Platinum Edition. If it's on par with that I wouldn't be upset at all. Hopefully better than Get Weird though, i'll admit that isn't a particularly good album

 

I'm confident Holiday will be my least fave and even that is pretty good so im not too worried.

Ariana confirming release of new single 23rd also, how much of an affect will this have on SM? Obviously this isn’t what we hoped for and the girls will now go below Ariana in every major playlist, but every review ive read of this is brilliant and hoping that quality of the song helps them against Ariana and having a music video and performance straight off the bat will help (that’s my view on it anyways 😂)

I'm nervous if this IS the release date for SM. But the week after is gonna hit harder as Ariana's entire album will likely go above it, knocking it out the top 50/much needed 2nd week exposure. It wouldn't matter officially as Ari can only have 3 songs charting, but the exposure for streaming will be impacted.

This always happens here, we panic when someone else releases :lol: I’m not gonna panic until it’s actually released. Will the ariana tracks stay in the top 50 for long?

Frustrating? Yes, end of the world? No

 

Let’s just see what happens, best keep our expectations low so we are not overly disappointed, a top 10 is all I’m aiming for

It is annoying but let’s see what happens.

I just want it to go top 10 and have some longevity in the charts. I’m also curious to see how this does on AM as i remember BUS doing quite well there but Holiday struggled to get quite as high.

I think you’re overestimating Ariana’s album longevity. I don’t think her entire album will swarm the top 50. Especially with no proper build up, and even at the moment nothing has been 100% confirmed to the GP.

 

Also, with the single, yes it’ll obvi go higher than SM however I don’t necessarily think it’ll take away from SM. I think what’s important is the playlisting. They’ll see Ariana and hopefully see Little Mix just below them, as I don’t think anyone else big is releasing. Little Mix also managed to get #4 on NMF for two promo singles so hopefully that’s a good indication. A #1 position to #2 once Positions comes out will be amazing.

 

Let’s not forget that just obsessively replaying a song doesn’t contribute towards streams, don’t they have to loop it with other songs? so hopefully the fanbases can help each other out lol

I'm hoping SM is big enough off the bat to not get knocked out of the top 50 easily (10-30 on Spotify). Seems the label have been preparing for this release for a while so playlist support should be strong. Instant top 15 on Hot Hits I beg, then the cover and higher position on album release week

Let’s be honest, a top 10 is what they should be aiming for. Their days of massive number 1/top 3 hits are behind them imo. I’m not understanding how 1 artist releasing the same day is going to make this release a disaster? If it’s good, it’ll sell. If it’s sub par like Holiday was, it will struggle.

I have to agree with you.. if the songs as good as people are making it out to be then it will sell and hopefully one artist releasing a song on the same day will not completely hinder its success

I’m honestly not too bothered about Ari releasing on the same day, if they are behind her on NMF it could work in their favour tbh... and it’s not like they are battling it out for the #1 spot officially so there’s no competition. Yes, she will debut higher but i agree with the people who said if SM is a good song, it shouldn’t be hindered by someone releasing on the same day. I’m expecting good playlist support as the promo singles both went top 5 on NMF. Top 2 behind Ari would be perfect! Holiday is around 22 on HHUK i think so it would be good if this could just replace that.

Yeah, I don't think it matters too much either. As long as they start getting radio and Spotify support right away, and the song is good, it'll climb up over the weeks anyway, especially on album release week.
