41 in the mids.

:michelle:

I thought people predicting a Top 10 debut would be disappointed - it could recover and become a hit though.

Lol yes, they truly were a one hit wonder with their 5 #1s weren't they?

screaming :P

yeah i mean i cant imagine anyone really cares about new JLS music... they truly were a one hit wonder.

The trolling. Girl please.

Oh no, I care about new JLS music, must be something wrong with me then. One hit wonder with 5 #1's that's new to me..

Anyway:

This sounds a lot like Everybody In Love. And that's not a bad thing.

NTAs tomorrow, they're also doing This Morning on Friday. They've got interviews across the Global stations (Capital, Heart) and they've done both the breakfast shows on those.

Music video might help? It could be a slow burner rather than peaking in the first week.

When they had their five no. 1s the X Factor machine was also massive.

makes the top 75 at 71, i think they might be somehow happy with that.

I think they’ll be bitterly disappointed - their big comeback single written by Ed Sheeran, prime time TV promo and having never missed the Top 20 previously (Appreciate times are different now etc.,) but am sure they were expecting more than barely making the Top 75.

Hold Me Down/Give Me Life missed the Top 100 - peaked at #112!

I would say Eternal Love isn't getting good enough exposure on streaming platforms to really make much of a dent in the official chart yet, but maybe that support will grow in the coming weeks. I suppose like other comeback artists they'll be more focused on achieving strong first week sales with the album. They're releasing via BMG, a label that doesn't seem to have much clout when it comes to streaming. JLS are fortunate they weren't lumbered with a Thursday release like many other BMG artists!

By the way, I enjoy Eternal Love! It suits them, it has a nice throwback feel to it.

They're no fools, and I think they're aware of how the charts work today and what to realistically expect. I wasn't expecting a massive first week because I'm aware that's not how things work nowadays.

It's not like 2011 where everything is so focused on a massive first week and going straight in at number one. Unless you are a certain band of artist (Ed Sheeran, Adele, Drake) that is true for virtually everyone these days. Most if not all songs in the charts now tend to not peak until some weeks - sometimes months - into their run.

You also factor in that it's been 8 years since their last new stuff it's going to be a gradual thing, and all being dads with families and commitments around those to balance now I imagine that probably suits them better anyway. And as Jay has said there is nothing to suggest support won't grow in the coming weeks with the video out there now, radio getting more on board and the build up to the tour starting next month.

But speaking of the video: really clever! It reminds me a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers' video for "Dani California" with the different looks and eras. I love the Jackson 5 style one best, I bet they had a laugh doing that 😂

'Eternal Love' is really, really good. It is catchy as f***! The video is cute, too.

I do wonder, though, why PCD instantly managed to go Top 40 with their comeback single, whereas JLS barely made the Top 75.

Now B-listed at Radio 2. The performance they filmed at the O2 a while ago was the acoustic video of the single which is now in the ether, as they say:

Those harmonies though. Absolutely gutted I'm missing out on this tour now :(
