Is it just me or are more and more people releasing Christmas songs these last couple of years (regardless of how well or poorly they do)? I don't remember there being so many original Christmas songs 10 years ago, but everyone seems to be at it these days.

I agree it’s become a huge thing over the past 7-8 years to make a new Christmas song. Even the pop artists who aim at radio 1 audience are at it even if the station ignores them. I know American artists have always done them and albums but this seems to have transferred to here now.

Maybe the John Lewis ad has been a factor to with creating a new tradition at this time of year and also the fact that with streaming its best waiting until new year to release your next single with the Xmas takeover in December

I like that there are more having a go at making original Christmas songs now unlike the ones that just do a full Christmas covers album. Must know it’s now an easy bit of money each Christmas being on the playlists.

Its too early I think for Christmas songs to be doing this well, although they are probably helped by the fact itunes sales continue to decrease.

Probably being In lockdown and not much to do is a big factor this year
