Hollier is VERY well written. The rest... But I completely agree with what you're saying; the change in producers will have had a massive #IMPAKT!!

Ok, I’m a bit of an insomniac, so I went down the rabbit hole. These are the only discrepancies that I noticed. I hope this helps some. I’ll try to find the appropriate links from Spice News or other

  • Been away for a while as dealing with a very personal situation but the recent days in Spiceworld and all the leaks have got my attention and have been following all the leaks, which have been incredi

I never found credits for All We Need, so that is definitely interesting to see. It’s been a good 15 years since I searched publishing for the Touch era writers. I kinda lost interest and was more int

What the hell are you smoking over there hun? Pass that dutch please cos that was a wild ride of a post lol

You're judging demos of unfinished songs that you havent even heard in full based on pure conjecture and your preference for Geri's work. Geri, the artist responsible for some of pop's most cringe lyrical content ever like Bag It Up, Half of Me and most of her post Schizo work?

Like, lyrically Forever was definitely an improvement (even if you don't like the music itself/the record). It was just different things they were writing about. Songs like Wasting My Time, If You Wanna Have Some Fun, Oxygen, Holler and Tell Me Why are cleverly written, on the same standards as Spice and Spiceworld.

None of their solo works compare to quality of the writing of the group's output, even though Northern Star, Schizo and Free Me get very close. In each occasion, they were working with top notch producers/writers (William Orbit, Ret Lawrence, Biff) and also including producers/writers who already had a strong history with them (again Biff and Absolute in the case of Geri).

In the case of NS and Forever, they had a strong backing from Virgin's A&R team. By the year 2001, that team had moved on to other artists and didn't work on their solo works anymore.

What does that indicate to you? That Geri was the cherry on the cake of the writing OR that after they left their group's teams they had no more access to top notch producers/writers and quality A&R teams to support them?

The quality in music and lyrics went south after 2000, and thats not because Geri wasnt in the group. It was because they had changed and were no longer working with the people who got the best lyrical content off them.

Dwarling, never been a huge Gerita’s fan, but I recon she did bring something to the table back then. She’s not the best singer, she was the worst dancer, but no one can’t tell me she wasn’t crucial when it came to writing. She was an explosion of ideas!

PS: solo work? I hate her solo music! My faves have always been the Mels!

That’s your opinion - I think Mel C’s solo material is far better and more credible than most of the material released by the Spice Girls.

In my opinion, Northern Star is better than any Spice album.

I'm also surprised Virgin didn't give Reason a stronger push, considering they focused more on Melanie than the group during 99/2000. Maybe they realised the material wasn't as strong as her debut.

Northern Star is better, but that's it. She had grrat producers for it. For a second album like that, but with a natural, non-grunge evolution, well even super grunge with Goin Down levels across an album would work, she needed top producers again.

Spices really threw it all away in 1999.

1. Right Back At Ya - release BOTH versions and send thrm to rnb and pop radio in US

2. GO GO GO - massive press about this and Geri.

3. W.O.M.A.N - summer dance SMASH. They never released a proper dance song.

4. We are Family/ Strongest Suit

5. Pain Proof

FIVE no.1s from the same album in one year just waiting in it! Okay, some tracks might be filler on the album, but they have six songs, plus Goodbye, so three more of a lesser quality isn't massively bad. This would have balanced their VERY BALLAD HEAVY discography more, too, and created a LESS MOROSE musical.

End of 2000, keep goin, next album. Hollier, Walk of Life x4 with Billie Piper, and final ever single, If You Wanna (Have Some Fun) (Loving ... On Your Mind?) (Have Some Fun) (Are You Having Fun)? Get a final top 5.

I would also have released a Christmas album AND A HALLOWEEN SONG. They woulf have definitely suited a Halloween classic.

They never released a proper dance song? Who do you think you are is dancing in front of you right now!

Also I agree Northern Star is better than any Spice album. I personally prefer Spiceworld (the ultimate perfect pop album for me) but Northern Star is a stronger body of work. It really was an utter triumph for Melanie at the time and she deserved even more success with it (even if it did do pretty well).

The girls have at least 10- 14 useable unreleased tracks. They should have released these songs over the course of the next ten years on different releases.

The girls should have planned the next ten years out. At some point the girls will have to say farewell. I don't see them touring in their 60's.

July 2021 - Rarities album

2023 - 25th anniversary world tour

November 2026 - 30th anniversary edition of Spice

November 2027 - 30th anniversary edition of Spiceworld

2028/2029 - Farewell world tour

2030 - 30th anniversary edition of Forever

Lazy Spices didn't even last 2 years in their heyday!! No way are they planning on ten years

Northern Star and Melanie C

The rest, I don’t agree

Anyone who looks at their schedule and work ethic between 1996-1999 and calls them lazy clearly doesn't know what they are talking about. They were burned out due to the heavy non-stop workload.

Has they had some breaks to rest inbetween the gruelling schedules, we probably would have had a different Spice story.

OK I have added:

- Emma Bunton section

- YouTube videos of all the available demos/unreleased

Do you guys have any other suggestions? I am not sure if the Emma Bunton sections are all complete so please do let me know if I have missed anything.

At some other point, I will make it a bit nicer looking with pictures, etc!

On another note: C U Next Tuesday and Go Go Go have been removed from YouTube... It's probably just a reaction against them being leaked, but I have a GLIMMER of hope that it will mean a future release...

A release like Sugababes' The Lost Tapes would be amazing (it will never happen...)

  • 1 month later...

Why would they bother registering a 20+ year old track if they didn't intend to release it?

ETA: it could of course be ASCAP just adding old files / documents to the database.
