December 3, 20205 yr Would love Mariah to get there but Positions is just everywhere at the moment and catchy beyond belief! Should be no1 for a while yet.
December 3, 20205 yr There'd be a certain symmetry in that 'thank u next' had 6 weeks at #1 and in its 6th week Mariah would have been #1 if not on ACR (#5 officially that week). For what it's worth, I think 'positions' is a better song than 'thank u next'. 31 pages - I believe that makes it the second longest of these threads here, after the Kylie vs. Little Mix one!

December 3, 20205 yr Channel 4 News have reported that Mariah is on the cusp of number one She probably miss by 5 units or something silly  :drama:
December 3, 20205 yr In fairness they were talking generally about the early Christmas feeling this year and used that as one example of Christmas a month earlier than usual. Might increase the sales at the last minute lol
December 3, 20205 yr Streams for Thursday are estimated so it's a bit late for that now  (but yeah maybe a few more paid sales) There'd be a certain symmetry in that 'thank u next' had 6 weeks at #1 and in its 6th week Mariah would have been #1 if not on ACR (#5 officially that week). For what it's worth, I think 'positions' is a better song than 'thank u next'. Well that is incredibly satisfying. But 7 weeks would bag her the most consecutive weeks at #1 in 2020 (6 weeks would tie her with 'Head & Heart') so I'd also be more than happy for her to hang on a bit longer  just typing out the possibility of 7 weeks seems preposterous - this has outdone my expectations and then some!!
December 4, 20205 yr I’m sure this has been asked and said already in this thread somewhere... but how much did Steps open with their last album? This is looking likely to be a bigger number isn’t it? Which is pretty damn fantastic for them if it’s the case Their last album opened with 37,624 sales. This one should hopefully surpass it, which I know they have had a lot more formats this time round but record sales have also fallen overall so it's a real achievement either way. Hope they can sustain some longetivity with the album.
December 4, 20205 yr I hope Shakin Stevens can hold onto his Top 10 placement. Kylie showing great staying power with Disco.
