I think the government should be opening up vaccination to all 18-38 year olds and stop going down the line by age group. The quicker you vaccinate, the less likely the indian variant will spread.

Rather than sitting on stockpiles of vaccines waiting to be used.

Sounds like they're scaling up now to be able to do 800,000 per day and in some parts of the country they're definitely well in to vaccinating people in their 30s. The problem we do have now though is the vulnerable are going to not as well protected and if they haven't had their covid jab they are going to be at significant risk. Hanock has been doing the misery rounds this morning preparing us all June 21st not going ahead, which seems inevitable at this stage.

Oh that’s great!!!!

EMA this morning has said the BioNTech jag can be held in a fridge for a month instead of just 5 days which is huge.

Germany will offer all jags to everyone by June 7th. Getting an appt however not so easy. Third wave is defeated. Bundesnotbremse is officially now dead in Berlin and we have more freedoms from tomorrow (no Ausgangssperre) and then outdoor dining (with negative testing) comes back on Friday! In time for the long weekend

Looks like Cardiff will be the first place in the UK to complete its first dose rollout to adults on 30 May(!)

Very impressive! Two months ahead of the UK target.

I'm fairly confident we will beat the Indian variant, but it does require a high vaccination take-up. The Times were reporting Tier 4 measures and local lockdowns could be back in place- I'm sure that would go down like a lead balloon.

Oh dear...because Tier 4 and local lockdowns worked so well last time round

Just had my first jab, feels like I’ve been waiting ages but literally got a call today saying there were spares and raced down to get one.

Gyms have finally reopened here, let's celebrate that sisters

Belgium following suit the 9th of june as well

Got my second jab yday and feeling ok, maybe a bit tired but I’m always tired in the morning!

4th of June for me :cheer:

With negative test result. So might not be using it too much until I’m fully jagged and exempt from the testing regs

Thank god the Dutch speakers don't do this, that'd cause a riot here.

The rule of thumb for us right now is „you can do XYZ……with a negative test result“

If you’re fully vaxxed you’re exempt from these rules. I’m sure all the 90 year olds can’t wait to tear it up power walking on the treadmills at John Reed.

For what it’s worth, I think our system really works well. There’s more than 850 places in Berlin alone where I can get a free Rapid test and then my PDF result gets me 24hrs of a more normal life. If that’s the price that I need to pay then so be it.

What number government fuck up are we at now? Surely double figures isn't it..

I heard there’s still 150 flights that came here from there this week. I mean the government has consistently been afraid to close flight routes from the beginning of all this!

And what of the hotel quarantine system? A lot of media about it the week it first came in but is this even still happening for red-list arrivals?
It all seems very laissez faire!

The problem with the system is there are so many loopholes in it and the Government is torn between letting people what to do. Now the EU has welcomed Brits abroad it doesn't help, but I lay that one firmly with the Government. Quite simply we were too late to react to India (DB posted a thread earlier which the real reason for the late reaction was). Honestly if they just said no summer hols until August when we had 70-80% hopefully vaccinated then you solve all problems pretty much. Except we're in this kind of supply teacher mode where nobody really gives a damn

Should be easy there’s a threat of a variant coming from south east Asia and flights should be stopped until the threat recedes. Johnson has been like this from the start reacting too late until it’s prevalent in the community and people are on hospital beds.
