Confirmed no more restrictions in England before Christmas but likely after going from what they have said. We will see.

I think it's not bad for a business to be fined for forcing their employees in when they easily can work from home. It happened to me, I was working from home and it was going fine but the manager was insistent on having people in the office for some reason at the height of restrictions (Nov/Dec last year) and I quit shortly after.

But agree individuals shouldn't be fined when it's usually for their own wellbeing, or they don't have a suitable environment to work from home in.

It’s a rocky road. I think that some people need to be in the office for various reasons and that so long as they make the choice voluntarily knowing their risk then they should be able to.

Our office has a 50% capacity limit, 3G proof requirement and windows that open to ensure good ventilation. I feel safe and it’s good for my mental health. I wouldn’t want my employer fined or anything because they let me in. Now if I was under a mandate or expectation then I would feel like Jack did. But you can’t prosecute that because an expectation isn’t something that’d hold up in court

What’s that got to do with Jeremy Corbyn??

He's a firebrand radical leftist detached from reality, yet Piers makes him look sane. It's impressive.

At least Kier is finally showing why we binned Jezza

He’s hardly detached from reality!

Basically how I read that is that he has a different opinion to yours truely so in order to devalue his opinion I call him names like batshit crazy! Maybe says more about you than him!

I'll say, careful to try and keep the posts on the topic of this thread but I don't mind short diversions and so I'll just drop a quick one in:

the modern Corbyn, look at his Twitter feed and I challenge you to find anything disagreeable there. He's always been more within the reality of what life means outside the Westminster bubble for the working class than most politicians. Look at the huge upswell for an ideologically similar young figure who just won in Chile, across all of Latin America there's another red wave coming. It's just the British media will paint him as the detached one.

Jeremy having an embarassing brother who is probably living for the attention with this anti-vax stuff shouldn't reflect poorly on him, but at least it's coming after his time as leader and good ol' boring forensic Keir can sweep up the default votes while the Tories are making mistakes and time will see if he's still holding them when the music stops. The problem with the poll leads now is that they don't feel like Labour has solidified them just yet.

So England is not bringing in any further restrictions while Scotland, Wales and many other countries tighten up restrictions. Makes no sense and once again this shambolic government appears to be sitting back and doing nothing. They say there isn’t enough evidence yet but surely the fact omicron is more transmittable and infections are at record levels is enough to act. While cases are so high, there is a danger of other variants developing alongside increased hospitalisations and deaths alongside the absolute chaos this will cause to businesses by people being off sick. It’s in everyone’s interest to get infection levels down to a lower level so that society can function in a better way.

100% this and agree also like I’ve said in the opinion poll thread I’m not sure Labour has a solid lead yet until we get many more over 40% as the tories still lead the ideological narrative imo.

Alert level 2 from Boxing Day in Wales. Rule of 6, giving contact details, etc

While I remain opposed to & unconvinced of the wider benefit of full-society lockdowns and the certain restrictions (household mixing, distance standing but not sitting etc.) that UK has put in place...

It is actually something of a relief that Nicola has made a definitive announcement in advance, so it's not limbo over our heads for another week.

In my opinion the constant stop-start nature of Boris's approach has been one of the most stressful and anxiety-inducing elements, just an added layer on top of normal human interaction being made illegal unless you're rich

I agree, I feel the same way about Drakeford in Wales. I know what’s coming no and it’s not *that* restrictive. On a personal level, it barely affects me at all but I do feel for some of the younger population.

As for Boris, we know it’s coming so why not just announce?

Johnson is completely ruled, yet again, by the hard right faction in the Tory party who believe profit at all costs is more important than lives. The same group that forced through hardest of possible Brexits, are vehemnetly anti green policies and like stirring up vicious culture wars against minorities. Hate those people so much.

Im inclined to agree. Not about no restrictions (I’m broadly in favour of making life hard for the plague rats and then common sense measures to get us through the worst of the winter) but that it’s a good approach to more have clarity in advance. It is for the best of everyone to have that little slice of comfort over Xmas. We can sacrifice new year, when we know we’ve got Xmas.

Id rather have clarity and restrictions than rumours and murky nothingness

You f***ING WHAT?! ABSOLUTE f***ING JOKE!!!!

You've CLEARLY been brainwashed, like Romney, and need a RADICAL media detox, you radical centrist

Corbyn is a sensible, European left-of-centre, pragmatic politician. Your Starmier faves is nothing more than a neolibetal shill, playing silly beggars as rhe planet burns and neolibetal late stage capitalism collapses. Well done, you sound like an utter boomer!!

And basically, if you're going to have the greatest politician in mofern British history's name in your mouth, you best brush your neoliberal, radioactively radical centrist chompers first x
