Queen Jaida Essence Hall is coming to announce our new queens in T-minus 37 minutes! The rumor mill has it that the RuVeal will be centered around Jaida’s ‘Frozen’ runway from S12 with a wintery theme. And the promo/Meet the Queens that will surely drop right after, featuring a ‘pastel’ and ‘pin-up’ concept.

Who’s excited??? :cheer:

Can somebody move this to the RuPaul’s Drag Race forum please? I forgot that there was one :kink:

I've changed this to be a Meet The Queens thread as we always have separate episode threads rather than one for the season

Kandy Muse is the spitting image of my ex in drag and I hate that lmaooo, also we have our first trans male contestant in Mik!

Denali - kinda love her, I feel like even though she's newish to drag, you can tell she's got that spark and personality to stand out on the show regardless.

Elliott - she definitely has the confidence and drive, not 100% sure on her yet, I think it depends if she brings the performances to back up what she's saying, I'll love the confidence, but if not I think she could quickly become annoying

Gottmik - YAAAAAASSS!! it's a real moment to have a trans male on the show and I just love her style, ethos and personality so far, definitely think she will be one to watch, she made the biggest impression on me for sure.

Joey - it's potentially interesting that she has this more masculine signature look, doesn't wear wigs etc. but I can't see it going over that well on the show, maybe she will surprise and do more than that as that's what Drag Race is about.

Kahmora - she's coming across to me like one of those who is established enough

Kandy - she's just giving me Poundland Miss Vanjie on Silky steroids rn, I'm trying not to constantly compare queens but it's all a little overbearing and annoying so far like tone it down a TAD, if she's like this the whole time I'm already tired

Lala - not giving me much tbh, feels like an early out for sure

Olivia - instantly a quite warm and likeable personality without forcing it too much, again like Denali she's got that spark which you need to have on a show like this, I'm intrigued to see more!

Rosé - actually seems really fun, there's a lot of potentially big personalities this time round I feel!

Symone - I'm instantly really drawn to her, she's got such grace and eloquence and explains herself perfectly without promising too much or pretending, she has a really good idea of who she is and how it will translate on the show, I'm excited for her!

Tamisha - actually kind of unlikeable so far, her MTQ segment had that air of "I do classic drag so I'm better automatically", it's Season 13 I really don't think that's enough tbh

Tina - I always love a campy queen, idk if there's enough spark there for her to do really well but I know she's gonna be hilarious!

Utica - very intrigued by her style and ideas, seems sweet enough, idk if she will potentially get a bit lost in the mix though as there seems to be a few big personalities you're instantly drawn to over her.

Like 5 second after the queens were revealed, people could not stop comparing black queens to other black queens. It’s so tiring.

Ugh, really? That's so weird. I feel like all of the black queens, hell all of the queens, seem pretty unique and unlike any of the previous queens we've had IMO.

I hate that side of the fandom :/

Same. The Drag Race fandom is one of the most racist ones.

Ok, firstly, yes, the fandom can be super racist.

But what's the issue with comparing queens to other queens? We compare everything we like to something else we like as a key part of discussion, no?

I often do it but I think it kind of demeans the queens working to make their own name and have their own style or personality, when you constantly have to live up to being "this season's x", I know I've seen a few queens say how they hate it. However I do get that when you've seen meet the queens, your first reaction is "oh they remind me of x", with not a lot to go on sometimes you get that association sparked in your mind.

It's a bit insulting to the queens when people go oh she is this season's ____ etc or comments on how much facially they look like to the queens. I even saw Jan got annoyed because they was saying oh its pink jan about rose than just calling rose by her actual name.

Whats the point of them being unique and different if they are constantly compared to the other queens, espicially if the person is of colour and being compared to the older season queens.

Just realized I quoted the wrong post but you get my drift

Tbf I saw people comparing all the queens to previous queens. I think it's inevitable and I don't think most people mean it seriously. The queens will come into their own once we get to see them on screen!

But even saying something like X is queen is nothing like Y queen is still a comparison.

I get the point that it might be annoying, but I also think it's pretty unreasonable because the argument is with the English language and how humans communicate, rather than with individual people. We describe anything by comparing it to something else. That's literally how humans explain anything new to each other.
