2006 rightfully slaying here. I voted it back then as it was just a standout year and when I got back into following the charts properly!

2006 for me, I don't recall any other year I felt so happy in my life, and the music played such a huge part in that.

The charts that summer - for me - were as perfect as they are ever going to get - Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Rogue Traders, Lily Allen, Cascada and various others all smashing simultaneously??? A dream.

And so many albums released that I still adore today, from Lily Allen, Take That, The Pipettes, Nelly Furtado, All Saints etc and others I became aware of for the first time that year - The Veronicas, Nerina Pallot, Carrie Underwood and so many more. Everything about that year, to me, was amazing.

Went for 2000, such a big year for dance music (the biggest until 2014 perhaps) and quite a lot of classics from other genres! The charts were fast and interesting.

I decided to vote for 2006 because I had turned 13 then and was really into music by that stage.

There was a good mixture of genres such as indie, electro, R&B and pop.

She Moves in Her Own Way by The Kooks gives me fond memories of the long hot summer we had that year.

+ Modjo, Spiller and Madison Avenue, but they are a bit overrated though imo, as are You See The Trouble... and Casualty (Bound 4 The Reload) to a lesser degree. The fact all 5 got to #1 though....

I went for 2003. As others have mentioned, this was when I started following the charts properly. My memories of 2000-2001 are a bit hazy music-wise as I didn't yet have a radio in my bedroom, but 2002 changed that!

I think 2002-2006 was the peak period of the decade for me, probably because music from that time has the strongest memories attached to it. For the later part of the decade I think 2008 was a stand-out.
