wow the correct winner!!!! shocked!! it truly is the best song of the 2010s

been revisiting the lyrics and it's genius from the first word to the last,

a song written from the guts,

in a way not that different from the 2nd best song of the 2010s aka Adele-Someone like You

well either way it would be a great winner, all of that top 4 are truly excellent songs. it could very well be that close between Gotye and Rihanna in the next Record of the Decade too then, now that Dancing On My Own will be gone.

Really pleased for STIUTK - my 1 point for it feels a bit stingy on reflection (by contrast my 2 pointer only finished with 2 points!) but it’s not one that I really go back and listen to like some others. When it comes to sheer musical quality it’s really second to none though so a well deserved winner.

Excellent result! :cheer: Nothing against We Found Love, although I think both Calvin and Rihanna have done better (#1s before and since even?) whereas Somebody That I Used To Know was a true one-off and so subtly powerful. Although the top 5 after 40 sets of votes is the one I like best :D

Heck yeah Gotye & Kimbra. I'm obliged by my background to say that both have made a whole heap of great music outside of that one song (Gotye put out

years prior), but this was still a crazy watershed chart moment that I'll never forget.

 

Also much appreciation Gezza for this roll out, the gradual stats have been super interesting and I'll miss looking at this thread daily to see what the latest knock outs have been :D

Thanks so much Gezza, a tremendous effort to have posted results every day for the past 70 days or so! Nice to have a surprise winner as I thought for sure it was Rihanna and Calvin's to lose.

Great thread Gezza, thanks for all your efforts! Great result although I never would have predicted STIUTK to even be in the top five at the start of the rate.

Oh wow, I'm surprised but delighted that Somebody That I Used To Know topped this countdown! Even though I gave STIUTK 30 points, I still was expecting We Found Love (which is great too) to win. I'm very pleased to see that Buzzjack shares my love for Somebody That I Used To Know! I echo the point made that it is a unique and very memorable track that still sounds great. I heard it only yesterday and it still sounds just as good as it did in 2012. The video is amazing and so clever too!

 

Thank you to Gezza for organising and compiling this countdown - it has been very interesting to follow over the last couple of months!

Oh! I gave 18 points to Gotye and 12 points to Rihanna/Calvin. I didn't give any points to Get Lucky and Titanium but I llike both songs. Really good top 4, I wasn't expecting that! :o :w00t:

Somebody That I Used To Know is a great winner, very glad it's finished on top here! :wub: It did get two points from me as well which doesn't sound like a lot but in a list as big as this with so many good songs it really is!
