March 29, 20214 yr #Bringback12pointsystem After discovering that my 18 (or 12 in this case) would have finished top 10 and that my entry would have had the second biggest gain from this system, OMG THIS!!* :D *on this particular occasion
March 29, 20214 yr Ahh I thought I might have held on until 135 or so but I forgot Aeroche DNQd this time last year.
March 29, 20214 yr Top 10? #BringBackThe12PointSystem But also yay first time in a year and a half in the YTD Rolling top 10! I just wiped out my last place finish from this time last year and have qualified 9/10 times in recent contests!
March 29, 20214 yr I'm happy with another new peak on the rolling chart. No points to defend next time so I'm hoping to qualify again.
March 29, 20214 yr this year for me has been the epitome of "you're doing okay, but you can do so much better than that scrub"
March 29, 20214 yr the 12 point system can stay in the trash! yikes at how much trickle points helped my entry this month (and ending up lower than Grandbrothers would have in the alternate reality) but at least it is top 10 on the scoreboard that'll be in the BJSC history book whenever that belatedly gets an update. great to see us back in the Rolling Stone top 10 too and still top 3 in the YTD.

March 30, 20214 yr doing much better than I expected  I feel like the 'new' sound I've been presenting past year for our country has been paying off very well (I'll still be back to retro sound sooner than later but I'm enjoying for now the pop side as well ).
March 30, 20214 yr Author the 12 point system can stay in the trash! yikes at how much trickle points helped my entry this month (and ending up lower than Grandbrothers would have in the alternate reality) but at least it is top 10 on the scoreboard that'll be in the BJSC history book whenever that belatedly gets an update. great to see us back in the Rolling Stone top 10 too and still top 3 in the YTD. Rolling Stone top 10 :cheeseblock: (ironically if any of these lists are an analogue to the Rolling Stone chart it would be the 12 point system one - it's a nice alternate reality to claim moral successes (and ignore moral failures x) but at the end of the day is nothing more than an unofficial curiosity :basil:) On this occasion both realities wanted me to come 33rd apparently xo But also yay first time in a year and a half in the YTD Rolling top 10! I just wiped out my last place finish from this time last year and have qualified 9/10 times in recent contests! First time in nearly 3 years for you! (it was Dan who is there for the first time in just over a year and a half)
March 30, 20214 yr First time in nearly 3 years for you! (it was Dan who is there for the first time in just over a year and a half) Ooh excellent! I suppose that's what happens when you enter 10 contests in a row for the first time in 3 years!
March 30, 20214 yr I find these stats a tad confusing, but that’s just me. All I know is after only two successive Top 10 finishes in BJSC, I’m already having my best year to date... but watch me DNQ next month (entry already chosen)! :P The main thing is I’m still enjoying the contest very much and hope I can continue beyond 2021 if the temporary ban lifting becomes permanent for myself and Lee. As always, thank you muchness Bré for all the stats you regularly put together.
March 30, 20214 yr WOIII, g'won @ this contests top 2 being the top 2 of the year *.* Following from Camden last year, my 2nd placers always seem to do very well in these things! And I'iiiiiiiiim coming up that leaderboard~ (not rly, i have nothing for this contest)
March 30, 20214 yr Author I find these stats a tad confusing, but that’s just me. I'm not sure which parts are confusing to you but: > YTD by points, votes and 18s I would hope are pretty self explanatory > The YTD songs list is ordered by what percentage of points songs got out of the theoretical maximum (i.e. if every other country gave it 18 points) - e.g. this past contest there were 65 voters so the highest score possible would be 1,152 (64*18) and 'Puppy' scoring 365/1,152 comes out to 31.68% (I'd assume this is probably the confusing part?) > The rolling YTD list is just adding up all the scores from the last 10 contests > The 'results under the 12 point system' is just looking at the scoreboard from the most recent contest if all votes were scaled down to the standard Eurovision voting format that used to be used before BJSC 74 (18s becoming 12s, 15s becoming 10s, 13-6 becoming 8-1, 5-1 being discarded entirely)
March 30, 20214 yr > YTD by points, votes and 18s I would hope are pretty self explanatory Yep I got that part. :P > The YTD songs list is ordered by what percentage of points songs got out of the theoretical maximum (i.e. if every other country gave it 18 points) - e.g. this past contest there were 65 voters so the highest score possible would be 1,152 (64*18) and 'Puppy' scoring 365/1,152 comes out to 31.68% (I'd assume this is probably the confusing part?) That makes sense, thanks for clarifying. ^_^ > The rolling YTD list is just adding up all the scores from the last 10 contests In theory then, if I participated in 10 successive contests, that would boost my chances of doing well here (even if those 10 contests don’t all happen in the same calendar year?) > The 'results under the 12 point system' is just looking at the scoreboard from the most recent contest if all votes were scaled down to the standard Eurovision voting format that used to be used before BJSC 74 (18s becoming 12s, 15s becoming 10s, 13-6 becoming 8-1, 5-1 being discarded entirely) I did wonder what this meant too, so thanks for that explanation. ^_^ My earlier assumption, which I’m now concluding was wrong, was that because I took part in February, and now March, but not in January, I would have immediately had an annual disadvantage over others who participated in that month (making it 3 out of 3 for 2021), but now I see that doesn’t matter as much if “YTD” doesn’t mean just 2021. I guess in 10 months time, if I had participated in as many contests, I would have the same advantages as someone who had been participating consecutively for many years.

The rolling YTD is the only one that includes some numbers from 2020 as well - the other lists are only for 2021 so you'd be correct that you have a slight disadvantage from not being in BJSC 131, although it's the same as the disadvantage of having one DNQ. (You are actually the highest ranked country who hasn't been in all 3 finals of the year so far, the impact of the one missing contest will become less and less over the year if you do keep consistently entering and qualifying, as a lot of the countries currently above you will almost certainly DNQ at some point). And yes, to make an appearance in the rolling YTD chart you generally need to have participated in most if not all of the last 10 contests!
