Lol at BL being on SCR and blocking SYT next week

 

'Save Your Tears' still hasn't had a single week ahead of 'Blinding Lights' yet even with it on ACR so that's nothing new lol. Happy to see it getting such a big boost though, and here's hoping it's still a future top 10 hit after mostly stalling for the month after its video release.

I'm really surprised Ava Max's "My Head & My Heart" is still no where in the top 200 on spotify considering it's now up to #18 on Apple music! I hope it'll start getting playlisting support soon with it possibly going top 40 this week. Fingers crossed the video release, which should be soon, will boost it on spotify as well.

Seems to be following K&Q's performance in that respect, which also didn't make a dent on Spotify until it blew up/got playlist support.

 

It's another in a long line of reasons I'm so thankful Spotify's monopoly on the streaming market is gradually diminishing.

In fairness it's only so high on Apple because it's high on Today's Hits - like Tom Grennan

Rag'n'Bone Man is properly flopping isn't he? It seems people aren't really here for his new sound. Not that I'm gonna write it off completely yet but I definitely thought he'd be doing better than this.

I think that'll have to be judged on the album sales, I'm sure they knew it wouldn't be a massive single with a sound like that - unfortunately because it's brilliant.

Maybe this is his 'Don't Matter Now' and he's got a 'Paradise' or 'Shotgun' up his sleeve?

Funny thing is, that's exactly the comparison I had in my mind!

main issue as per usual is that Spotify is totally ignoring it and has zero support

but thats the same with all indie releases unless you become tiktok or go viral

I wouldn't say it's a dead cert that Blinding Lights will be reset as presumably Friday to Sunday were fairly close to last week's and only Monday to Thursday will be up by 40% or so.

 

Maestro do you have its daily Spotify figures from Friday 29/1 to yesterday?

I reckon low Top 10, as that's where it would have been in last week's chart and the boost will likely have worn off by the time it actually charts on SCR.

Also in terms of Blinding Light's reset, on Apple Music it didn't get as big as a boost only going back up to #11 so I doubt that was as big as a 40% increase even on its best day

so far this week (Fri-Tue) BL has done 1,003K on Spotify, while the previous week it did 854K (Fri-Tue),

so if my calculations are not wrong, BL has had a 17.5% increase overall on Spotify

 

so it depends on the next 2 days, the other platforms (as mentioned above, the effect was smaller on Apple

but no clue about Amazon) and also on the market (if it increases, decreases and by how much)

Thanks Bjork. Putting estimates in for the last 2 days I estimate it will be 23% up on Spotify for the whole week. On that basis I predict it will miss being re-set, as it will be likely up by less on other platforms and I'm guessing the overall market will be at a similar level.

 

Last week BL did 1187K on Spotify, a 25% increase means1483K,

so far this week he's on 1003K, so he needs 480K more in 2 days (240K a day on average)

 

last couple days BL is doing ca. 225K a day, so he'd fall short

assuming a stable market

but could do it if the market had a drop

 

we need some insights from Amazon :D

I would have liked to see 'In Your Eyes' do better as well (although it's far from my fave on his album) but I have always thought 'Save Your Tears' was easily the stronger song and was begging to be pushed, was frustrating to see it going ignored for so long! I would say that with retrospect now it's maybe better off being pushed now than if it was the immediate post-album single due to 'Blinding Lights' sucking up slightly less energy but then it's still not managing to get past 'Blinding Lights' even now so that just seems to be a completely inescapable shadow :lol:
