Is he even an albums artist? His last one didn't even chart in the UK.

Always a pleasure to see one of my favourite Oasis songs back

he’s never been an albums artist. right now he’s neither a singles or albums artist hence why he’s been on the masked singer.

if only Armin van Buuren was a relevant chart artist his recentish NeYo collab Unlove You could’ve been a hit single for them.

Ne-Yo!

Hit after hit after hit! Just amazing stuff. 'The Year of the Gentleman' is one of my favourite albums of the 00's.

I think "hit after hit after hit" is stretching it somewhat - he had 7 UK top ten hits in the space of 6 years. That's not to take anything away from him as he has released a couple of classics and 'The Year Of The Gentleman' is actually a pretty good album!

12 top 10 hits including features (at least 3 of which I'd say he's more than a significant enough presence on to count them as 'Ne-Yo hits') and he had several other hits if you don't arbitrarily cut off at #10 as well, I'd say he has a pretty expansive chart history :P (not to mention that 5 out of those 12 were #1s! though 'Beautiful Monster' is probably one of his most forgettable hits despite being one of those #1s lol)

Oh yeah, I forgot to include features in my polyhex search, my bad. It's hardly arbitrary cutting off at #10 though, "top ten hits" is definitely regarded as a thing!

For the record, 'Mad' is my favourite Ne-Yo song, despite it barely scraping the top twenty

Yep, and also we have to remember this was a different era, when artists gave each single time to breathe rather than putting a new one out every 5 minutes.

I've not listened to it for ages, but Ne-Yo used to be a mainstay on Heart FM with both Closer (it was wonderful to see that get to No.1 after quite a long and slow climb) and Give Me Everything, which iirc they used to use their very own edit which effectively cuts out Pitbull - the lead artist - and just repeats Ne-Yo's part countless times

My favourites of his are Closer, Miss Independent and his contribution to Keri Hilson's Knock You Down - although him, Keri and Kanye all play equal parts in that track's brilliance. I also liked his Rihanna and Calvin Harris collaborations.

For someone who's had so many big hits - especially with the five No.1s - it never really felt like he was a huge superstar in the league of other acts with that much success, which is a shame.

He has such a solid back catalogue- I agree with Bray that the one song of his that is really iffy that did so well was Beautiful Monster. But he has quite a string back catalogue of solid hits from the late 00s and early 10s. Most of his collabs are great and I honestly think Knock You Down is such a great song. The three work so well together, I've heard a few songwriters say that if they could have written any song over the past 10 years it was that one in interviews.

Knock you down getting the love it deserves, we love to see it x

Cant quite believe it was 12 years ago this year!

Let me love you was and still is an absolute banger oh his, he was such a major part of the music industry as I was growing up, I’m shocked he’s only had 12 top 10s and only spent 7 weeks at number 1!

I'd say Ne-Yo is probably the least essential of the three performers on 'Knock You Down' but it is a pretty great song overall.

I actually do really like most of Ne-Yo's hit singles, 'Closer' will always be his best for me. 'Coming With You' from 2015 was really underrated as well I think, shame that turned out to be a turning point with him becoming pretty rapidly irrelevant afterwards (although from what little I've heard of his post-2015 output I can't say it's really interested me much tbf).
