March 4, 20214 yr Joins the love club for Motorcycle-As the Rush Comes!!!!! one of the best dance songs ever! Someone should stick it in BJSC I have it on Now 57 and it only peaked at 18 in my charts, so it could do with a boost
March 4, 20214 yr surely As The Rush Comes is far too well known for BJSC!! it was even voted the 45th best dance song ever last time I ran such a competition
March 4, 20214 yr I'm now tempted to extend this topic further back in time... what do people think are the essential electronic tracks of the 80s and earlier that helped to shape electronic music? So far I've probably gone with some obvious ones but I have: Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Relax Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes Ultravox - Vienna Donna Summer - I Feel Love Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams Salt n Pepa - Push It Soft Cell - Tainted Love Kraftwerk are an obvious omission but haven't settled on which to get yet. Total classics (plus Push It which is fun but not in the same early classic mode). The Model is the best, but Autobahn was a pioneer. My 12 inches are few and far between when it comes to remixes, tended not to buy them on the whole unless they were hits compilations or had bonus tracks or a remix I couldnt otherwise get (like the US hit version of Mony Mony for Billy Idol). But I have these ones vaguely dance-ish: Pet Shop Boys Inner Sanctum Mory Kante Banquero Enigma Mea Culpa Paula Abdul Knocked Out Dusty Springfield Reputation Malcolm McLaren House Of The Blue Danube Alexander O Neal Hearsay Mostly 80's stuff though, I'd more or less switched to CD by the 90's as it took up less room :D
March 4, 20214 yr surely As The Rush Comes is far too well known for BJSC!! it was even voted the 45th best dance song ever last time I ran such a competition Oh I never know what is getting vetoed that's why I get vetoes here and there for my entries  It peaked at 11 and is not that far off 20 years old, and I have my doubts it's that widely-known by anyone who wasnt into the charts or dance at the time. Never heard it on the radio since, the video only has just over 2 million views and TBH I'd totally forgotten about it until it was brought up just now :o  But your competition might be reason enough for a veto, you're right :) I did get Silicon Soul accepted, and Moloko, too, though.... :D
March 4, 20214 yr It does seem to be very fondly remembered by trance fans at least, if not the general public, and clearly there's a few of us on the forum.
March 4, 20214 yr Yeah drum n bass/rock I guess :) 4 years is a lot of effort, that shows more commitment than I have  ! Thats very kind of you to offer that (you should get Now to do a special edition! :D ) and I appreciate it muchly  , but I pretty much have them all already, just spread out a bit over Now CD's and vinyl/CD singles. If my backlog of unplayed CD's wasn't in the 100's I'd def have it to have them all in one handy place though! It took 4 years because I am lazy and I left it alone for long periods. I make these, not so that I can have the tunes, but for a few other reasons. So that I can create a Now that never existed, sequenced in a way I think that would suit an official edition and so that I can get better at graphic design trying to replicate the official releases. I have Now Trance [Club mixes], Now Synthpop [Extended] and Now Dance Explosion (which focuses on dance music from 1987 to 1989) in the works. Check back in 2023 :D

March 4, 20214 yr Author I love Colm's fictional now series, the way he does the artwork for them is great... I was actually thinking they would make great threads for this forum Colm!
March 4, 20214 yr Author Wonderful  I love that track and yours is nicer than mine as I've got a promo version with a typical plain sleeve with stickers
March 4, 20214 yr 'Now Synthpop' fills me with a lot of excitement! Look what arrived today btw: <3 The original is good but I prefer Love Story (vs. Finally) which in turn I prefer to the original Finally by Kings of Tomorrow too. Edited March 4, 20214 yr by TheSnake
March 4, 20214 yr 'Now Synthpop' fills me with a lot of excitement! Look what arrived today btw: <3 *.* Enjoy! Although it's kinda scary how similar our taste in music is - Layo & Bushwacka! was a #1 for me, but in 2003 because I'm a chart whore and missed it the first time around. I remember it soundtracking lots of Celebrity Fit Club which I was strangely obsessed with at the time. Next you'll be telling me you bought Take Me With You by Cosmos..
March 4, 20214 yr Author Ordered a few more old ones that I felt were essential in one way or another... (thank you Snake for some of your suggestions  ) Chic - Good Times Blondie - Heart of Glass Tubeway Army - Are Friends Electric Talk Talk - It's My Life Tears For Fears - Pale Shelter Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Kraftwerk - Computer Love / The Model Visage - Fade To Grey Erasure - A Little Respect Desireless - Voyage Voyage Yazoo - Don't Go / Situation Bronski Beat - Small-town Boy Propaganda - The Nine Lives of Dr Mabuse Prince - 1999 / Little Red Corvette Flock of Seagulls - I Ran (not sure whether this quite counts really but I like it!)
March 6, 20214 yr A couple more arrivals today including the first of quite a few from the Positiva label! *summons Rich* :kink: Wonderful  I love that track and yours is nicer than mine as I've got a promo version with a typical plain sleeve with stickers Ordered a few more old ones that I felt were essential in one way or another... Yeah I was pleased to find a copy with the actual artwork! I don't mind too much but if it's available for a decent price then I've been trying to prioritise that. That list is exceptional *.* I've actually been in a massive Blondie mood for the past couple of days <3 The original is good but I prefer Love Story (vs. Finally) which in turn I prefer to the original Finally by Kings of Tomorrow too. Fair, I think I'm just so drawn to the Nina Simone sample that I'm content with it being the basis for the whole song without any other vocals <3 *.* Enjoy! Thanks *.* loving our crossover - from SZA being a joint current #1 to being so fond of 'Love Story' <3 I was way too young to even know it in 2003 but eventually got to it and fell in love. I've never heard of 'Celebrity Fit Club' until now but I can imagine that my mum watched it  I'm afraid I did not as I didn't even know that song existed until now :o I feel like I can't even blame the #32 peak as 'Love Story' in its original form only peaked a couple of places higher. Still some dance gems for me to find. Just checked it out though and it's a bit of a tune :music:
March 6, 20214 yr I absolutely adore the original Kings of Tomorrow track (Finally) from 'Love Story'

The video had a dog going to the moon I think - which struck a chord with me because I had a book about Laika (first dog in space) when I was growing up. Incidentally if you don't know Lange (Lan-gee, or is it Lahnge?) “Drifting Away” is another early 2000s BANGAH. Particularly the Lange's Sunset Dub on the CD Single!
March 11, 20214 yr A couple more arrivals today including the first of quite a few from the Positiva label! *summons Rich* :kink: :cheer: I have Back In My Life by Alice Deejay on vinyl but really have comparatively few compared to most contributors to this thread!
March 21, 20214 yr I don't know who did it, but some absolute star has uploaded the original music video for Gat Decor. It may say 2021 on the calendar but it's 1992 again in my house today!! XTAvt_IcQuY
